Upgraded Interior Lighting in my M6 Gran Coupe

I just did this upgrade on our 2013 Cayenne Turbo and was thrilled so I got the OEM lighting kit for my M6 Gran coupe as well. Install was super-easy - what a huge difference. Really compliments the interior very much. All doors have LED now, as well as overhead and footwell areas. So happy I did this modification. Highly recommended.

Nice. I put amber led's in my footwells to match the rest of the lighting and it looks amazing. OEM like. Should have come like that.

Did you perform this yourself? How do you get access to the bulbs in the overhead unit? I'm worried about breaking it!

I got to the overhead console by taking the whole piece out - was scary but not too bad. Makes a huge difference!

Ok thanks I will have another try! I bought the BMW 10 LED set, I fitted the two footwell LEDs and the two lower doors.

I gave it another go, I can get the front and rear unclipped but there is something still holding the centre part very firmly. I'm sure it will break it If I pull any harder!

I went through the same...was pretty sure I would break it...but there were clips all around the sides that if you go one by one, you should get them out...but if you are worried, just have the dealer do it next visit...not worth busting something...
Also don't forget the glove box and the light in the trunk that is fixed to the body (the light in the part of the trunk that raises is a different bulb). Not sure if you got that one - I missed it at first.
Not sure which model you have (I have the M6 GC) but the rear overhead lights are easy...really all are easy (foot lights, doors, glove box and one of the trunk lights)...only hard lights are front center overhead console....

Yes I spotted the glove box light and changed that over, I need to check in the trunk (boot in the UK). I noticed the one in the lid was a different type.

Thanks for all your help.

I've been looking on realoem at the expanded parts of the roof console.

Is the part numbered 4 the part you unclipped?

I managed to get to the bulbs but not in the way I expected! I unclipped the front and rear of the panel, but as I was gently trying to unclip the sides the surround covers of the spotlights came off. This allowed me to remove those two bulbs. The clear plastic lens from the main light unclipped which allowed me to change that bulb over.

Great! I took my car in for the 1200 mile service the other day and asked them to do the two front reading lights (all I had left) and they did so very easily. They also said the others were all done correctly! Sweet upgrade. Not sure why it does not come like this from the factory (or at least give the option).

yep crazy that they aren't LED as standard. The only one I have left to convert is the one in the boot/trunk lid.

great upgrade, it looks so much better with the LEDs.

I got the trunk LED bulb at Trinityautosport.com and it worked great. $25 for a pair - you only need one but get a spare. PM for details if needed.
