///M logo being over used?

Is anyone else annoyed that bmw is ruining the exclusivity of the M car by using ///M on every bmw that has a little better suspension, etc? I think the M symbol should be for M cars only, not for every single model!

This is called MARKETING

And there is no complain when MB is building A and B class cars or CLA-AMG...
German cars changed their culture/strategy years ago to compete with Japanese cars... Lexus is doing the same thing with F models and F badge... MB is selling non AMG cars with AMG package the same as AUDI selling S package with non-S models ....

I feel like all the car companies have gone too far because a lot of modern cars built for the focus group first and less for the enthusiast. Its a fine balance between utilizing the halo effect to sell cars and diluting the brand.

Cars are built to maximize sales and profits, not focus groups or enthusiasts.

People cry about no manuals, so they offer them and they do not sell. They cry about wagons, they offer and they do not sell. Where's my E39 M5? Chevy offers one in the form of the SS and they do not sell. 200 hp rear wheel drive e30 like car? Toyota and Sub offer one and they do not sell

Simply put the M badges mean more money and profit. These actually help enthusiasts because with more sales they have the room to take risks.

Maybe the marketing works. I used to drive a '13 528i M sport. After 24 months, I ended up with an M6 GC.

Anyways, now you don't need to get an M5. You can get an //M 550i.

What's next, ///M 640i? lol.

Very true. Real car people will know the real deal from the imposter and non car people just think ..."wow thats a nice BMW!" They wont know the difference anyway.
