Tyre / Alloy / Cosmetic Insurance (UK)

I've currently got tyre insurance on my X3, and it's already paid for itself, so I am probably going to get the same on the GC next week.

Has anyone bothered with the Cosmetic and/or Alloy insurance?

+1 even though BMW have updated policy terms and max payment is now based on tyre tread I.e. They will only contribute upto a max of £300 if the tread on the damaged tyre is +6mm! Still worth the cost, but make sure you ask for a discount

With the 'diamond cut' type wheel finish on the M6 wheels the wheel insurance is not worth while. All it covers is a smart repair, which is pointless.

I didn't go for either, I recon it would require 2 punctures in 3 years, which is way more than I've ever had, for the tyre insurance to be worthwhile.

I have been trying to claim on tyre insurance and it has been a nightmare ! There are so many exclusions , I wish I never wasted my money in the first place .

I was reading the t&c's of the updated tyre insurance and it certainly has changed a lot since I took it out.. so maybe I'll give the tyre insurance a miss.

Thanks for the comment re wheels, if the repair can't make them look the same, then it seems pointless as well.

Probably means the cosmetic one might be pointless too, need to read the t&c's on that, as I was thinking that could be useful to any dings in the door etc.

Hi - I'm just wondering what you went for in the end? I'm in the process of getting a 6 series GC with 20in Light M Double-spoke 373m wheels. I'm not sure if these are diamond cut alloys - how can I tell? I'm looking to get alloy wheel / cosmetic repair insurance but I want to get some quotes from 3rd parties before getting a quote from the dealers.

Thanks.
