Call me crazy, but shouldn't an M6 already have a sport suspension and non-shitty steering?
Also, with the brakes, this is probably going to be $10k. Awesome. Edit: just saw the European pricing, looks more like $15k.... |

I am probably in the minority here, but for the approx. additional $15,000 cost for this package I have to question is it really worth it....?
For and extra 15-20 bhp? In the US, who really cares about top speed.... it is the acceleration ability of these vehicles that really counts and one can use and appreciate. The car already has the spoiler and I for one prefer it to be painted body color and not carbon fiber, which looks like an aftermarket add-on. The 2013 M-B SL63 AMG's originally came with a carbon fiber spoiler and most customers requested that they be painted body color, to the point that M-B decided to just do that as the standard configuration... Over half of the people who purchase M6's do not get the ceramic brakes at the silly expensive additional cost. I appreciate the benefits of ceramic brakes, especially the reduced brake dust coating the wheels, but they do squeak when cold. I do not plan to track my M6 so these brakes are an expense that I cannot really justify. I happen to like the current optional 20" wheels on the M6 and am not a fan of black colored wheels, (just my personal preference). Maybe I am missing something here, but I wonder how many M6 owners or potential owners would really spend that additional money for what this package includes...??? The photos of the M6 at the beginning of this post appear to have the car lowered by at least 2 inches. It sort of looks overweight to me and not very attractive. I guess since my M6 will be a daily driver on some roads that are less than ideal, I do not want to sacrifice any suspension play to absorb ruts and pot holes that could damage the tires, wheels or worse. (Yeah, I know I sound like an older East Coast driver, but that is what I am.....) I am in the camp that believes that BMW should just make many of these items as standard equipment on the 2014 model, except for the ceramic brakes, due to their cost. It just starts to get silly when these so-called performance packages become options. I think it is much better to keep is simple.

The Comp. Package is an option, that means it's not mandatory to be bought!
Why so many complains? On the other hand, there are some persons who want a more track oriented car so this option arrives just in time Remember that Porsche offers the option for Sport Chrono too |

The ceramic brakes on something like the M3 makes much more sense than the M5 and M6. Much more people will track the M3 than the comfy cruisers of the M5 and M6. Even though I had the pleasure of riding in the current M5 around the ring in the ring taxi, I can't help but think that this package is nothing more than a way for some fool to say his manhood is longer than someone else's just because he bought a competition package barge as opposed to someone who didn't.
I bet BMW even thinks that a bunch of people are going to return their year old M5s and M6s for this, much like people did for the E9x M3 competition pack. |

They're having a hard enough time selling M5s and M6s here in the US as it is, seems hard to believe a $15k option package is a good idea. I would like that exhaust though.

Since on this forum a lot of customers upgrade their cars, why not take into account an OEM product? |

I think this is great news. It's a way to have your M5 or M6 become OEM+ from the dealership floor for peace of mind sake, and for BMW to sell another car to someone who's going to do it.
The '13 guys will be offended and take it like a high school break up, but its what car companies are doing now. Deal with it. You literally get 15 min of spotlight when it comes to these cars and the AMG's. I can't wait to see the finished product AND see what's in store for the F82 M3 next year. A lot of action to come, and I can't wait to see a whole new line up of ///M cars for MY2014 and im pumped

Its a tie between the
[QUOTE=A_;13921996]Which wheels do you prefer?
2. 3. Depending on the final finish of these wheels (I dont think black will be standard) and the proper color combination, Im torn between these two choices.

Not much more they can add
If you read the current Automobile magazine, and please no flaming me. Up front they take a well broken in M6 to a dyno specialist and it pulls 577hp at the rear wheels. I think BMW has already given these cars so much power there really isn't much room for more. With a proper exhaust and carbon filter delete you will gain 15-20hp which is what I think BMW does with these competition models. I don't think there is a change to the boost pressure or software, although maybe to the DSC and suspension settings. If anyone wants a picture of the article comments message me with your email and I will send it. All I can say is mine will get wheelspin at 80mph in MDM with warm summer tires on a 70F day so how much more do you really need?
Peace. BTW the wheels are ugly, look like Dinan black wheels, very boring. I am sticking with my HRE S101s in charcoal. |
