Looking to buy a 2012 650i convertible 6-speed soon

Just an introduction.

I've done a little research but always welcome tips.

I'm coming from a 335i. I test drove a 6 series today and it definitely felt like a huge boat. I figured I'd just get used to it.

I'd like to get some good wheels/tires and maybe an M sport exhaust or similar someday. Any other ideas for mods?

Review some of the issues with the N63 engine versus N63TU (2013-present). there are a couple threads on here.

I am aware that there are some issues with it and that there was a Customer Care Package that was supposed to have fixed those issues.

The car I'm looking at is still under CPO warranty for another 15 months so I reckon it should be alright?

I'd still keep warranty beyond. I'm planning to extend mine for my 2013

all things being equal, I'd go with the 2013 and get the N63tu. Its a bit of an unknown, but the unknown is better than the proven problems with the N63 motor.

No such thing as a 2013 6 series manual trans. Some of us care more about the transmission and driving experience so we are willing to take a chance on an engine that may have had some issues. What BMW engine hasn't! There is a customer care package, aka recall, on it. Plus, if it is CPO, hopefully this will protect the OP.

OP, I have had the pleasure of both the e63 and F12 manual transmissions. They are awesome and way better than a 3 series. The 3 series weigh less and might be a little tighter around the corners, but everything else is better with the 6. The 3 just seems cheap now!

I have owned plenty of manuals and fully understand the driving experience. the n63 motor is a POS and the customer care package doesn't cure its problems- it delays them. If the OP is going to drive the car as a daily, for a couple years then make sure you have an extended warranty. If you are looking at it as a weekend car you intend to own for the long term, then buyer beware.
