Paris Autoshow 2010 Live Coverage: BMW 6-Series Concept Coupe

By far, the main headline attraction at the 2010 Paris Autoshow is the BMW 6-Series Concept Coupe which is basicly the upcoming BMW 6-Series Coupe with the word 'Concept' appended to it so as to avoid official annoucement, for now.

The car was revealed in dramatic fashion, being driven down a sloping ramp and coming to a stop infront of the assembled international press. Ian Robertson was the host of the day and gave the audience a well done introduction to the new 6 series coupe with a mix of BMW heritage mixed in to remind everyone that this car follows the distinct tradition of BMW. The car was then left spinning on the dedicated display and was certainly the star of the show as far as the assembled photographers and writers were concerned.

I miss Chris Bangle <sigh>. the wierd thing is that I don't care much for any of the new Hooydonk Bimmers. The only ones remotely exciting for me are the X5 and X6 --- the X5 is now long in the tooth, so god knows how boring its replacement will be.

I haven't kept up on the new 6 series, but it just looks HUGE to me...the old one was a bigger coupe, yes, but still seemed to pull it off.

This one? Not so much...and those tailpipes are absolutely hideous....

Nice looking car but the bottom portion below the front bumper is a bit too much.

O brother.

Not so sure about the huge chrome grill on the lover front bumper. Also not feeling the downward crease on the outside of the front bumper. Interior is a big EH.

IMHO, not a big improvement over the old one.

Meh, I dunno.

This new 6er feels like a failed CS.

Front end is terrible and weak.

What ever happened to short front overhangs? Starting to look like front wheel drive based cars. Clearly, Hooydonk is moving design back to the 80-90's language where every BMW is similar - just different sizes.

Anyone else think the iDrive buttons & placement look like an aftermarket add-on in the newer BMW's?

I bet this 6 will look pretty aggressive (better) in person and on the road.

Not liking the headlights at all. The entire car doesn't wow me. I'm very disappointed in the new 6 series.

The hood looks very jaguar-esque. I love the exhaust pipes (although very lexus ls 450-esque).

Overall, I'm not super-impressed. I'm sure it will turn heads though.

For some reason I seem far more interested in the concept car in the background.

The negative comments come from high expectations.

Tell me the front doesnt look like a jaguar

Don't get me wrong, its a beautiful car and the interior IS AMAZING.
