Looking at a 640d. Advise?

Hi guys. Iv currently got an f31 but tomorrow I'm looking at an AUC 640d April 2014 with 40k. Any thing I should look out for etc on these cars? Also what sort of mpg do you realistically get say on a 70/80mph run? Cheers

Hey mate good choice
Are you going the coupe route or Gc?
I've had mine just over a year now and no major issues at all.

I've taken it back with a few little warranty issues but more because I'm really fussy! I had the discs replaced twice as there was a very slight wobble, struts for the boot as it wasn't opening fully on the key and the roof rails had slight bubbles and apart from that it's been a joy.

Mpg in 13 months has averaged 33mpg but that's lots of short journeys and a heavy foot.
70-80mph Mpg is between 40-47
Slow plods 60mpg and ragging it loads has been about 29mpg.

My f30 330d averaged 34mpg on similar journeys to the 640d so 1mpg difference

I've just changed from the rubbish Bridgestone run flats to Mss and that is a nice improvement.

Look forward to seeing the pics

quite bullet proof mechanically, interior can suffer making it look tired, especially steering wheel and centre arm rest section that seem to wear easily. I used to get mid - high 30s on a 80mph run, otherwise a fine car you won't look back

Cheers for the replies. Danbmw I remember you from the f30 forum! It's a GC in space grey with ivory leather I believe. Running cost wise it shouldn't be much more than an 330d I guess? It's got a service pack until 2019

That looks like a nice spec there bud
For me most importantly you have the comfort seats and Hud and the lovely ceramic finishes. Yeah running costs vs the 330d are pretty similar in my experience of the two.

you'll find the 640d is much more fuel efficient than the 330d

Should hopefully notice the difference in power coming from a 318d
