What did you pay for Tire/Wheel Insurance?
Going down to the dealer tomorrow to finally sign for my M6GC. I wanted to know what you guys paid for the tire/wheel insurance. They quoted me at $1900. I asked a few BMW owners and they said thats very high. I was wondering if i am getting ripped off. Its for a lease by the way.

I paid about $1800 for a 5 year coverage. I was wondering what I need to do when I replace my tires. Do I have to use the exact OEM tires or can I go with different sizes?

well speak of the devil, I just found this gash on my tire today so I took my car in to get the coverage and was told I need to have an actual puncture. Luckily my SA took me down to the basement and allowed me to run over a nail to finish it off. Paid the $50 deductible and got my rear tire replaced. Glad I got it and I'm sure it'll come in handy again.
On another note, how the heck does a tire get damaged like this? I've never seen this kind of gash... almost looks deliberate |

Now that's customer service!
That appears to have happened at speed. Not sure why or how someone would maliciously shave compound from that spot on the tire, when they could have easily defaced your car in other ways. |

Not the BMW one as far as I know. And they won't even replace your rim unless it won't hold air.
However the BMW insurance does not prorate the tire costs ($50 out of pocket is all you pay) and they don't "fix" your rim, you get a new one. I think

A year ago Manhattan BMW offered 3 different wheel/tire insurance policies. The top priced BMW policy (about $2900 for 3 yrs) had $50 deductible but no questions asked, come in and they change the tire.
Level 2 was thru Allstate ( I believe no longer available in NY) about $2100, no deductible but each claim needs to approved before they'll pay. Wheels are only replaced if they can't hold air. Otherwise they're repaired ( I've had 6 wheel repairs so far in one year). The third and cheapest version I didn't even look at. You're quote sounds about right in this area. |
