I am going to take the M6 to the dealer to have some tests run. The battery is brand new (purchased it a couple weeks ago) so I don't believe it's battery related at this point.

Your X5M is covered under this
SI B61 30 14

Meaning that the battery is a known issue. At your 2nd oil change the dealer is supposed to put a new battery in (and thereafter every 2nd oil change).

As for your actual car, my bet is it is the aftermarket amp and unfortunately BMW probably is not going to do much until you remove it and still have the problem. Of course, keeping the key away from the car is a good idea with CA. Also, as noted, the computer in your car charges the battery differently based on how old the battery is. So you need to have the car re-programmed when you put a new battery in. I don't think that will make much of a difference with your car and the battery being that new - but it still should be done.

I have a JL audio system as well and my car sits for a month sometimes and I have no issues. Its sits for 2-3 weeks a lot and no problems.

Out of curiosity, I did just the opposite - I put the key inside my car (on the console, to be exact) and left it there for five days without touching the car (we drove one of our other cars instead). Started with no problem today. Didn't seem to faze the car at all.

Brian for what it's worth, I leave my M6 GC CP for 3 weeks at a time in an alarmed Garage with the keys (2) less than 1 meter away in a Safe.

The Car always starts first time and can not be entered using "Comfort access".

The signal does not get to the car through the Safe.
