This should silence those GTR Fanboys

I honestly dont know how this happened from a standstill in the wet. If it was a 60-120 race and the M6 won thats one thing but the fact that it won from a standstill perplexes me

That is not going to silence anything. The GTR did not use LC.

Plus, anything other than a straight line test, and it won't even be a competition.

I know this is a BMW board, but at a cheaper price, the GT-R is just in a different league than the M6.

I agree it was a bad launch on the GTR; but it doesn't change the fact that it's a Nissan...

Well.....I wouldn't go so far as to say the GTR is in a "different league". The GTR is designed to be a pure speed tool and nothing more. The M6 is designed to not only be fast, but also be a feast for the other senses. That said, the M6 and GTR are pretty much in the same league in terms of power. The GTR obviously has the AWD advantage in terms of launch, but once moving, the AWD becomes a hindrance to straight line performance. As far as price, they are pretty close. GTRs are in the low 100's.

Whether or not the GTR used TC or not shouldn't put it at that much of a disadvantage. It has AWD.

I think both cars are pretty close in terms of price and straight-line performance. M6 has HP advantage, GTR has AWD and lighter in weight advantage
I agree that if you put both cars on a track the GTR will have the upper hand - especially in the hands of an experienced driver but many (not all) GTR buyers get the car for bragging rights and have never seen a track day in their life, or plan on it.

Most M6 buyers, buy the car for different reasons and may never see a track day either but if you have a track junkie in an M6 up against some track Noob in a GTR, then you're right, it won't even be a competition....The GTR would lose badly

They are both great cars, for different reasons.
Before I bought my M6 i drove a bunch of others in its price range, some higher and some lower. The GTR was one of them. AWD is nice, It is fast but for me, the combination of power, handling, drivaebility, comfort and luxury were what I liked in the M6. And ya, I cant get over the fact that its a nissan. My first car was a nissan sentra
My M6 will never see the track

I can confirm this. My friend has 2012 GTR and we went racing for the fun. We did not use launch control since we already knew who was going to be fastest on 1/4mile. Instead we decided to take rolling starts so that we could see which car was the strongest, best geared, aerodynamics etc.

We took 4 tests:
1 gear stand still both just accelerate to 200
2nd gear rolling from 50km/h
3rd gear rolling from 100km/h
highway 100 to 275km/h

M6 = 4, GTR = 0

The gtr has slightly shorter gears, so every time he changed from 2nd to 3rd or 3rd to 4th I had around 500rpm before i had to change, and this is where the m6 edges ahead by around 1 meter every time the gtr changes gears. When we are both in the same gear the M6 creeps forward slowly, but mainly on gearchange. By 220km/h I could already see the GTR rear bumper in my mirror and by 275 I was at least 3 car lengths ahead.
I have asked him to race again this time making video for all the gtr fan boys and non believers!
I have driven many GTRs around race track and it is scary fast, but day to day use just not a BMW. Comfort, class, luxury combined with performance is what M cars are all about. The Nissan is just to hard, too plastic and too "Nissan"..

M5 keeps up with GTR and the M6 is 1.2 seconds faster 0-200 than M5.
