Thumbs down Am I the only one upset by this review?

The M6 cab Wobbles!!?? I can not believe it. You would think they would know how to make a steering wheel and or structural rigidity, that doesn't wobble!

OK BMW, this is your chance to acknowledge and fix said issue...

Well...? I'm waiting...

I daily drive an m6 cab and have no such wobbles. Harris claimed he left the car in all comfort settings. In the comfort setting the 6 really does feel like a boat, but when the suspension is in either sport or sport plus those wobbles are gone.

Does anyone else have a problem with him saying that he left it in comfort mode, and then complained it was not sport enough? I hope I misunderstood what he said, because I expect more out of Chris Harris.

This further shows the competition has caught up BMW, if not surpassed. BMW better be sure with their new M3/M4, it could be the first M3 not to be KING, M5 is already no more KING.

Sorry, but I think not. The M6 is more of a solid and nimble rocket than the M5. The steering wheel of the M6 I tested was "planted". Pure race car. Go and test drive a M6.

I feel the same way. If he left it in comfort the entire time, how the heck would he feel with all the race settings on. It would blow the SL out of the water...

Get over it people...did you get to test and beat on both cars on a variance of roads and a circuit and make a relative comparison? No. But, he did. He is comparing the looseness of the M to the merc and that just means the merc felt stiffer and more compliant overall. Don't forget the merc also has "comfort" mode as its default as well which, most likely, means its comfort setting is just programmed sportier than the M's.

Im sure the M6 is stiff and sporty enough for 95% of the people out there, but alas fanboy's will always cry and shout. One day Chris is the best reviewer around to you guys and the next he is a "paid off" schmuck? It is well known that there have been many mixed reviews on all of BMW's new cars including the M6...being softer, less communicative, and generally less sporty than previous iterations. I think the M6 is a much better looking car and would easily take it over the SL, even if it is pure fact that it is slower and less fun to drive, simply because it speaks to me more. Anyhow, he did pick the M6 initially, didn't he? I'm sure you M6 guys would be in an uproar if he put it up against a cheaper and lowly GTR that will surely smack it on a track and perhaps destroy the M in a straight line...at least from a launch. Bah, it is a BMW forum I suppose.

+1

Not to mention this is not the first review with similar feelings about BMW's most recent M-cars. It seems to be a consistent theme as of late.

I think it was a great and honest review. It's meant to be a GT car w/ a twist, at least in my eyes, and that's what it is. I do wish it was lighter, but that seems to be the trend with BMW M cars, they continue to get heavier. Overall it is a nice car, and I agree with Chris that I would choose the M6 over the SL, but I wouldn't think twice about the SL, it's too ugly for my taste.

'M' seems to have become the whipping boy of late.
Not surprising, this is what you get when you use the same uninspired engine from a 650i, whose primary goal is cost reduction and secondary goal is to save gas.
And the chassis from god knows where.. the SL is space aged compared to it.
Too much chasing profit and not enough car.

the m6 looks sooooo much better then the merc its not even close IMO. I will say though I have to agree with Chris the interior of the Merc is very appealing.

Don't believe the BS.
I don't know how many of us here will agree with you on M6 being a PURE RACE CAR. I certainly don't. I am not a M6 owner not had I spent more than 20-30 mins test driving one on the road. It looks great and have plenty of power to play with, yet very comfortable. However, it's far from being nimble if you compare it to any pure sports car needless to say race cars.

So lame.

Seeing what BMW has done with the F30 I have serious doubts BMW will pull off a good M3.

It was frankly pathetic the E60 535i won its last comparison test and then the brand new F10 535i came in last place to its first comparison.

That's why I have a '13 M3 on order... probably the newest M car I'll ever have.

what the hell are you on about. M5 is always king of super saloons. every review M5 is on top. all tests etc. M5 is ontop.

and for the M6 its far better than the SL in everyway.

I think we forget the BMW is a 4 seater but the Merc is only 2 seater, that I guess does count for some more stiffness in the merc?

It's a 4 seater if you're carrying amputees.
