What dicount of MSRP should I be getting 15' M6GC
Going in to negotiate and finalize a deal on a 15' M6GC. Im currently at $13,300 off MSRP. The MSRP is $125,150. I've been hearing that is an ok deal, but not great. What should I be getting off MSRP considering the 16' will be out in a month or two?

Really appreciate the response. I did walk out. They actually had my license plate screwed on the back of the car I took it back. I wasn't even asking for 20k off and they let me walk. Should I try to wait it out longer? There is only one available in my area and I am a little nervous it could sell if I wait.

I don't know where this $20k figure comes from. I was told the same thing when I inquired back in December on here. This is why the dealers are telling you to walk, and no, they won't be calling you in a week....especially if you are in NY and they only have one left. I've heard of 3-4 deals ever that gave that much off new GC's....and they were later in the year. Next winter? $20k will probably be doable due to the facelift. I just picked mine up for $20k off in December (2014 model year) and I emailed MANY dealers all over the country, no one was wanting to get close to $20k off. The only reason I ended up getting it on mine was because the dealer I bought from was in Iowa and they accidentally accepted a second M6 GC allocation (and they weren't going to be able to sell this there...the car had been sitting for a long time and it was end of year).
I say if you want the car now...$15k might be what to aim for and I'd feel real good about that deal. If you want to wait until the end of the year, someone will get rid of one for $20k off and possibly more. You have to remember the facelift is so minor that in a couple months, some people will compare and inevitably take the 2015 for $15k off versus the 2016 at MSRP. Now, if you are talking coupe or cabrio, then yes, $20k can be done easily. Most all the dealers who were only wanting to give $10-15k off GC were easily willing to give $20k-23k off coupes or cabrios. The bargaining power due to the M6 facelift isn't going to be as much as some think due to the very slight change...headlights and a glossy IDRIVE screen worth paying $15k more? No. By the way, I can tell you that not one of those dealers came back to me a week or even a month later saying they now wanted to deal (and some of those cars are still sitting there). Good luck.

But I spent a full day calling around MANY dealerships. Yes The M6 doesn't sell very well- but they won't give them away either. I recommend doing what I did- contact mike at best buy auto leasing- and see if he can get you a car through his dealer for a great price. Wouldn't hurt.

I do know the coupes were getting knocked down $20k, but GCs are few and far between as it is, but nobody is waiting in line to buy one.
I would also look for pre-owned 14-15. Usually they won't certify them, but sometimes a baseball player/exec/pimp will buy one, drive it for 2000 miles and decide they need more room or would rather have the ride of a 5-7 series over a //M car. 2000-4000 miles on it may get you $20-25k off. Mine had 2100 miles on it, saved over $27k. I would let anyone drive my pig for 2000 miles if they gave me $27k. |

Just have to walk in with the intent (or expectation) of walking out. I never take the car I intend to trade (if there is one), have emailed ALL the available cars in my state and found out my "rock bottom" price, know my finances, know the offers, know what my trade is worth, etc. I visited them, other dealers and walked more than 3 times before the dealer response was "we would love to earn your business, but if you don't take this offer...... walk away" (true story)... and I was buying TWO cars at one time. I didn't walk. I bought them both, but I bet on that last visit I was there 3-4 hours. Never get in a hurry to buy. The last 3 cars I traded I worked out my trade price and NEVER took them in until it was time to trade. Oh, and the SECOND part of the sale is in the Finance office. they can easily add $3000-5000 to your loan (or offer up crazy finance rates) if you get too excited. Always be ready to walk.

It's always good to have a go-to at the dealership as well. Once there's someone who knows you're a qualified buyer and can/will buy from them every few years - they don't screw around with you. When I expressed interest in the only M6 they had on their lot, they offered to flat bed it to my office along with the paperwork and agreed upon price. If there are no solid sales guys in your area, you can always find one that's recommended on the forums and have them transport the vehicle to you. Even if you have the eat the cost on the transportation, the savings can probably offset it by a large degree.

I should also mention that it's going to be easier to get more off a $140k MSRP than it is a $125k MSRP.....they are going to be more willing to deal off a car that is highly optioned (and thus they are still making their good cash off the base amount of the car).
It's always in your best interest to do deals and negotiating by email ONLY (unless you want to go in and test drive). You have less chance of getting taken advantage of and you can compare offers from many different dealers all over the country...get the best deals separated...and then try to email local dealers and get them to match your better offers. You have much more leverage by telling a dealer you have 2 other dealers willing to give $20k off now than it is to go into a dealer and sit there for hours. I was in and out of my dealer in 10 minutes when I picked up my M6. All numbers had already been agreed upon over email....

Im starting to contact other dealers. I am not a good negotiator. Should I just start out asking for 20k off?

I would "suggest" $20K has been offered by a distant dealer, can they match it.

I would be happy anywhere near there. 16-17k I would be thrilled. Noone wants to go near there. This month the M6GC gets a $4000 build out cash credit. I would be happy with 13k off, plus the 4k. Cannot find a dealer who will give that.

Tulley BMW in NH might do it if they have one. I didn't go with them but they were willing to deal. A bit of a drive for you but maybe? Habberstad keeps bugging me and they seem somewhat aggressive, did you check them?
