New Gran Coupe (UK)
Hi All
just picked up my MY2014 GC 640d on friday, looking to learn any secrets and wanted to know the top 5 upgrades / things to do first ? love the car, is there a coding cheat sheet anywhere. last car was a 5 series and someone put together a nice sheet with the code for top 20 things, Corona birghtness, windows continue up when opening doors, speed display etc.., i have a laptop with coding software etc.. but dont want to blindly stumble around https://photos.app.goo.gl/bcFsPCqM98oCUvCG2 Thanks update, almost caught the red glint https://photos.google.com/share/AF1Q...tnUTZFU3c5WGRB this is how it looks captured by a detailing guy in a z4 http://www.detailingworld.com/forum/...d.php?t=271066 __________________

Looks great.
I don't understand you euro owners. Diesel just doesn't drive with the same responsiveness as a gasoline motor. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a diesel hater, I have a X5 35d. But I would only own a diesel SUV/truck. What's the attraction of a diesel car?

gasoline here is the equivalent to $1.80 a gallon lol over there i think you guys pay aroun 0.80c ? diesel is actually more expensive here at the min around $1.92
more MPG out of a diesel

I get the financial part...but at the expense of driving enjoyment?

ive had my share of bonkers cars so have calmed down now, the 640d isnt that big of a slouch. the 650 is such a rare beast over here also. it did almost go for a mustang over my 640, then saw the interior

Unfortunately for us Brits.... As the other guys have said.... Diesel was the only sensible option...and for now still is just....
We are gonna get screwed in a bit with city low emission zones... But thatns2 years away for most unless you live in London...Oxford plans to be totally car free... So if you live there you're gonna be walking... We are talking actually city centre stuff here.. I've owned lots of big diesel cars.. But the 640d is a real peach....the best I've had by a country mile.. My last car the E class 350cdi was not a patch on this.... As for you guys state side... It makes me laugh with your chevvies, mustangs and Cameros etc...you'd be flat broke if you lived here running one of those around...the world is nuts... Our tiny little island trying to be sooooooo green and all that, when no one else is really that bothered....YET.. I'm all for saving the planet, plastics etc... But let's get the big guns on the table as well as us...oh sorry mentioned the gun word there....was referring to countries. Not fire arms.. |

10+ M6's (coupes and GC's only) My reason for the D like others is the mileage I do, and brutally honestly I prefer the D these days as most petrols do not sound much better (even with fake noises) and at least from the recent petrols I have driven do not really have that much difference in terms of responsiveness. |

As i will only buy my cars 2nd hand i had little to no chance finding a decent 640i with the right options. I was ready to buy either in the right spec, which ever came first. After living with the 640d for a couple years i know now it was the right decision, it has more torque then then 640i and has the same 0-62 time. With all that performance and still getting 40+ mpg, I easily have no regrets. Hope this explains why most of us ended up with a 640d |
