whats the widest wheel setting for 20s on m6?

hey guys, im looking to switch my rear tires to wider setting, the front tires on my car are almost gone, but the rear tires seem to be holding up strong.

could i switch to 295/30/20 in the front (current rear tires) and whats the widest i can go in the back without rubbing?
i do have spacers 10mm in the back and 5mm in the front.

With respect to rim & tire specs, the widest tire for 9" rim is 275 and the widest tire for 10" is 295... Your M5 343M is 9" wide front and 10" wide rear.
M6 343M is 0.5" wider both front and rear so you can go up to 285 front 305 rear (my current setup on rear)

When considering + sizing wheels or changing tire sizes I always start with a decent wheel/tire size calculator. Something like this:

http://www.rimsntires.com/specspro.jsp

In addition to recommendations from those who have experience with actually trying out different sizes. My .02

Not with your current rims. For 315/25/20 you need at least 10.5" width and for 325/25/20 you need 11.5"

How wide of rims could you run on the front without issues? Crazy talk, but could you (on the M6) move the rear 10.5" rims to the front, with some spacers, and throw 12" rims on the rear and run something like 305s in the front and 325/335 in the rear? Or is that a terrible idea for 100 reasons?

It's definitely terrible idea
They have different ET. In case of M6, the front is 31 and the rear is 19
Using the link in post#3 the rear rims with 305 tires installed up front stands 0.3" deeper inside and 1.3" outside. 0.3" inside is not a big deal but 1.3" outside is about 33 mm. It's like you use 33 mm spacer on the stock front wheel. Almost the similar thing on rear. Even if you don't experience rubbing (which I doubt), having 4cm wider tire up front (and rear), will change everything as far as steering feeling and handling. Your car will turn to be a bus at corners

I'm running 325s on a 21x12 rear, and that's the absolute farthest I would go without being concerned about rubbing big time.

What is your wheel offset? Did you roll your fenders or are they stock?

Does anyone know if there is any downside to rolling the fenders?

Just put on 15mm spacers from sonic tuning. Perfectly flush with a +25 offset wheel.

quite confusing... So, the final offset after the spacer is et10 on a 10.5" wide wheel and 305 tires on the rear to achieve the flush look on your car?

I ran 325s on a 21x12 ADV1 wheel in the rear. If you want to go any wider than a 305 you need to ditch the stocks. Spacers can only do so much. To be honest nothing beats a custom built forged wheel when it comes to aggressive wheel/tire fitment.

We just built a few 20x9.5 and 20x10 front and 20x11.5 and 20x12 wheels for different BMW M6 applications. Tires varied from 315 rear to 325 rear.

Size on 10.5" depends on what tire make/model

The Toyo R888 you can do 315/30/20 on the rear. The 10.5 is within their spec.

I have these sitting in my garage and can't wait for winter to be over!!
