Help Needed - Looking to purchase 640i M Sport Edition in Japan
Needs some help guys.
Looking to buy a 640i Japan M Sports Edition. The build date on it is 2013-08-26. My questions are: 1. This is a 2014 model correct with that build date? 2. Is the iDrive version 4.2? 2. Can 6NR be retrofitted into this car? Can it be done by oneself or not? Kinda shocked it doesn't have the touch controller but I've heard we may be able to retrofit later - is this information correct? Attached are pics and the details of the build from BMW - sorry only in German and Japanese but the codes are all there. The car is stunning especially with those wheels - not too sure I'm digging the white ash trim - may change that out. Car literally came off the boat yesterday. Thanks in advance for the help! |

Hello
I have a Sept 2013 build 6 GranCoupe so will venture some answers that you may wish to cross verify with your Japanese dealer as specs are known to vary across countries. 1. Post July 2013 production, a series of enhancements have been incorporated into the 6er which should be incorporated into your car. American dealers/buyers may refer to this as the MY2014 but many specs on their cars are not standard in the UK 2014 MY and Asian models. 2. Yes 4.2 idrive but this does not have a touchpad like the new 3/4 series and X5 3. 6NR retrofits have been possible, not usually done by oneself unless you have all the tools and experience, some suppliers here will sell you the kit and direct you to installers in your area. Not sure if 6NR retrofits are possible with new MY2014 hardware architecture.

Looks like Bimmer Tech can help with BMW Apps - been in touch with them. Going to pull the trigger I think - will update later. |
