Frozen Grey 640

Hi,

Just wanted to share a pic of my 640D, because I don't see this color that much. Definitely not in real life, but also not among you enthusiasts on this forum.

Could be that you guys don't like the color, but I love it.

Also love it, but I have heard that taking care of it/maintaining it is a nightmare.

Not at all. It's cleaned every week. I let it clean every two weeks by a guy who uses a shampoo especially for matte paint. And the other week I go to a carwash and hose it of with high pressure and shampoo (not using a brush).

I'm more annoyed by the rims that are dirty after two days.

And I also heard about the difference in color after a repair, which worried me when I chose this color. Since I have the car I had a side skirt repainted when it was brandnew (problem by BMW). And my front bumper a half year ago and guess what; no difference what so ever. And believe me I put it under a microscope.

The only thing you can't do is polish it, but there other options for that also.

So don't worry. If you like the frozen colors, don't hesitate.

Beautiful! I was thinking about going frozen grey, or frozen Singapore grey this time around, but decided to go with frozen blue instead. Not sure if I made a mistake or not yet.

Is there a way to get a grill like that without the m6 logo?

Unfortunately not, to my knowledge. I don't like the original grille and there is no aftermarket or OEM grille which looks like the one from the M6, so I decided to go for the real thing. Well it's a 6 series with an M package, so why not.

Yeah, it looks a lot better than the standard grill. Looks better than the 2016 grill too.

I would love that exterior color for my next BMW.. was that a color option for you from the factory when you had the car built?

Please, no one get angry, just my subjective opinion.
First time I saw Frozen Grey or something very like it, there were two cars of very similar color, a Bentley and a 6 parked outside the Bentley dealership in St Petersburg, Russia.
While I thought both cars were beautiful I didn't know if I was looking at primer or the final paint job.
Still not sure.
Guess I don't love it.
Glad you do.

When I had a frozen color, people either loved it or hated it, there was no in between. Everyone has their own taste, it would never offend me, I actually liked having something that was so subjective.

Well said.

Especially when going on any individual color- it shows you did it for YOU and your preference more than anything else.

For every 10 people who loves your car, one will not. And that's totally fine by me

Exactly. Never purchase things with the hopes that everyone will appreciate it. especially something like a car or house.

Things like that are long term commitments. Do it for you so you will be pleased with it for years to come.

Love the colour! I think I bought my car too early -- had I waited a year I could have gotten the frozen White colour which I absolutely LOVE!
But I guess enjoying the car for that extra year is better than that...

Plus -- I can just get a vinyl wrap or plastidip done right? lol

You could...but if you ever see one side by side, no wrap or plastidip ever looks as good as frozen factory paint.

Still looks good though

Don't want to make the pain any worse, but just FYI, the Frozen white was always available, it just didn't get on the ordering guide until 2015. When I picked up my 2013 someone else was picking up a 2013 frozen white at the same time.

I'm sure that must've been moonstone metallic type of colour? I asked my dealer and he explicitly said no Frozen White. But oh well, can't do anything about it now!
Your car looks stunning though!

Haha I definitely agree! But what's a man gotta do when that's the only feasible option?

Haha I feel ya man. If you do wrap- make sure you use a 3m satin white. Plastidips look like incomplete paint jobs.

The reason why the factory frozen paint looks so good is cause it has a dry yet "wet" look all the time. The satin matte wraps are as close to the factory paint.

Here is one, it was for sure available to order, but the dealer would have had to ask a BMW VIP ordering specialist to do it.

This matte wrap on the X5 looks good, he shows what he used in the thread. I have seen some bad wraps, but if you use the right material and right installer it can look great. It will also protect your existing paint, and if you get bored you can change colors again.
