How do residuals change in the same month?

So I went to close the deal on an M6GC today, originally the deal was 39 months/10k miles. Residual on 39 months was 58%. I was getting $10,500 off MSRP and the payment was $1,394 a month. That was last week. I negotiated more and got them to take $13,300 off. So when I went in today to sign they had taken the $13,300 off but now the term changed to 36 months and the residual went down to 56%. Guess what the new payment was? $1,394 the exact same as with $10,500 off. Am I missing something here? I left without signing.

Beginning in March, it appears that BMW no longer offers the 39 month lease.

Sorry man. I was on the phone with my CA today. For the 15 M6GC 10K/36months residual is 56%. For the 16 M6GC with same terms residual is 55%. BMW is not offering 39 months anymore. May be you can get them to give you more discount since the residual went down and the 16s will be out next month. Dealers are only taking orders for 16s now. May be you can use this as a leverage to get more discount. They should honor the deal you had with them or give you more discount to make up for the difference since the residual went down. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Do you think they can discount the car more? They're claiming that is there bottom line and they're almost losing money yada...yada...yada.

So based on those numbers your payment is exactly what they are offering you; however you should get more discount on this deal... something about 20k will reduce your payment to 12xx...
If you want to know how to calculate the payment, you can read my write up here (post #58)

They can give you at least 15K discount before they actually lose money (selling you the car around invoice and also giving away their kickback, which is expected at this time). This does not include any support from BMWNA for the 15s (I do not know if BMWNA is offering any support). You need to ask them to pass on the support to you if it is offered. Again, the 16s will be out next month and dealers want to move the 15s. Use this point to your advantage. Play hard ball and see what they do. Good luck
