Are we certain of this? remember, the f30 grew to basically the dimensions of the e39, so the 3er now fills the size of the 5er just two generations ago, has the e class/cls grown as well? if not the size may not be that different...

and certainly, based on the price of the f30 335i, i could see the car being in the 65-70K range nicely equipted

Yeah, I know that you can outfit a model to be more expensive than a base version of the next model model in the lineup. What I'm asking is, will the base 4-series GC be more expensive than the base 5-series, assuming they both have the same engine?

I think it's established that the 4GC will be built on the F30L (China-only long wheelbase) platform. So whatever the length of the F30L, that will be the size of the 4GC.

I can't imagine that puts it in E-class/CLS territory in terms of size. I have to imagine it will still be smaller than the F10.

It looks gorgeous but the pricing is a little crazy. I went to MBUSA website and configured a CLS550 and fully loaded it was $76,000. If you do an ED, it was close to $70k. Also, CLS comes with a 402 bhp V8 vs 301 bhp N55.

As big a fan I am of BMW, and as much as I disliked (still kind of do) the Porsche Panamera, I think I'd choose the Panamera over all of the ones listed. And the interior BMW chose to show in these pics looks horrible.

Will there be an all wheel 640? What comes with the base 76k? Kinda wish this was in the market when I ordered my f10, wouldve had an extra car to choose from!

I agree it will be smaller than the F10, id hate it if it was even close in size to the F10, that thing is a boat, and the reason why im going with the F30 over it as ithe 3er will be much more dynamic. Id expect the 4GC to be more sporty than the CLS, and im sure that it will also be a competent 4 seater based on the positive stories on the f30, and the f30L is sure to add a few more inches to the rear seating area. So, put it this way, with the 4GC you'll get a car thats the size of an e39 but have a sporty coupelike design with the 4door access, that will be the real winner, and in M guise will be unbeatable.

Indeed. I'm excited to see how the F8X M4 GC stacks up against the F80 M3.

Hey guys..

To throw something in the mix..

What about Audi's new S7? It has a 4 liter twin-turbo TFSI V8, puts out 420 hp and 406 tq. Just saw it today and it has the luxury of the 640 GC, with a lot more power, tunable motor, and AWD standard.. For the same price range. Oh and the pop up spoiler is just awesome.

Basically it competes with a CLS550 which also can be made with awd for $2500 extra. Same power and size and probably price.

CLS550 was tested 0-60 in 4.2 seconds A7 might be the same. What will 640i be? 5.4? Can't compare to the 650 because that will be $15k more in cost.

While it makes sense that the 6GC has an upcharge over the 6er coupe/vert, it makes no sense that a 6 series costs more than a 7 series. Especially, considering that the 6 series has so many mechanical similarities to the 5er. In all honesty, this thing actually does compete with the CLS/A7. Not the Panamera.

I guess we will never see the return of the 8 series bmw.

bmw will most definitely follow audi in this regard: a5 is about 15-16% increase over a4 in base trim, but comes with more std features. To do anything more than that would alienate the younger buyer base. That price gap is enough for the a5 to maintain its slight "prestige" factor over the a4.

I'm not so sure that a 4GC would even make it to the states (the a5 sportback never did). They will test the waters with this 6GC first.

on the bright side for those who wait till end of the first model year, there will probably be $10K rebates to dealers. BMW did that during the first gen 6 series.

You can get a decently spec'd CLS63 with Designo leather + Designo paint for about $105K. Now once we add individual we can do the same with a 640i. Hmm wonder which one is better 640i vs CLS63 ?

Actually the 5er/6er/7er share many components so Id not say that the 6er is more similar to the 5er than the 7er, it is quite different than either in reality. In terms of lux, the 6er and 7er are on par, and the 6er has gotten some new tech even before the 7er, ie the LED headlights. And you just dont understand that BMW has move this up market, its a big car, and the 6er GC is a car as big as the 7er but with contoured seating for 4 in luxury, much more luxurious than the 7er actually if you look at the interior options. This car is an exact comparo to the Panny, its much larger than the CLS or a7, and priced accordingly.
