Dinan history shows minimal gains in every product. Their selling point is they offer their own warranty not a BMW warranty. If you have an engine failure do to their product I guarantee BMW or your dealership isn't the ones taking care of the bill. But if that helps you sleep at night more power to you. Then again Dinan wouldn't have the facility he has if he didn't charge as much as he does. So in all reality don't compare knowledge because of what someone has in house compare to those who use the same product development that is outsourced. The problem I have with Dinan is they claimed how bad the piggy back is for your car and then a couple of months they come out with a similar product. Don't get caught up too much on knowledge when the true knowledge and technology is because of BMWs ECUs sensory. The DME is set up to protect your motor no matter what you throw at it. Even if you set up the piggy back to raise boost more than it can handle doesn't mean it will raise the boost automatically or gain the gains you're expecting. I know from personal experience from data logging and all sorts real tests. If you're fuel is not right or its too hot the DME will adjust itself to lower boost, adjust timing ect. Just because your DME is set up to run 20-22 lb boost from factory doesn't mean it's always there. If you use 87 octane in your car by accident you will notice a power loss not because of the fuel but because the DME is smart enough to make adjustments Any way sorry if you think someone's knowledge is do to their price tag and in house product development for I've been around BMW M's since I was a child an growing up modifying them and pushing them through their paces. I do alot of research and have a lot of knowledge but that doesn't mean I'm a better or a smarter person I just have a passion for BMW M and performance. Good luck to all and enjoy no matter your choice. G Last edited by m6beast; 07-23-2014 at 05:08 AM.. |

I tend to agree with m6beast. BMW dealers have been dropping Dinan, there isn't even a Dinan approved dealer anywhere close to Miami. Before Braman used to install Dinan modes (had some on my E46 M3) and I felt good that if a dealer installed it, they would stand behind it. But since there are no more BMW dealers who install Dinan in my area (wonder why), BMS is a clear choice for me.

I wasted $22k on my 750i to get Dinan stage 5, the dyno result was 414WHP, my friend spent $200 on a used BMS stage 1, installed it on his 750i, and got 460whp.
After Dinan stage 5, I had lots of drive train malfunctions, so I sold the car. My friend still got his 750, and he drives it without any problems Decision is yours to make.

@m6beast - I don't think I could have said it better myself. When it comes down to it you are paying for the DINAN name and their warranty (at least on this product). The numbers you can achieve with Burger are higher than DINAN and the price point is much lower.

I want to know how ANY of these tunings translate to power on the road. My Dinan stage 3 tune on my 550 (F10) was WELL worth it (520hp,580tq). The power was immediate and fierce. However, on these M6s, I just fail to see how it's going to help translate into major speed gains.
I think BMW knew what it was doing, when it kept the torque numbers (semi) modest, at 500. These engines are top-notch. Power is certainly not the problem. Again, with the massive wheel spin we get in the first 2 gears, the torque gains are relatively pointless. I can definitely see how it would help in highway driving (passing, etc). If we had all wheel drive cars, it would be a completely different story. Am I wrong? Last edited by jnkirk1974; 07-23-2014 at 11:37 AM.. |

I drive my M6 everywhere I go with DSC inactive and can drift it I'm any direction open throttle ect. But that comes with practice. I don't expect every car to drive like the last so be patient and learning its characteristics is key to driving it with limits. Any way mine is hauling ass as I'm driving it the way it wa made to be driven. Enjoy! G |

I (like any man) love the idea of having maximum horsepower, if possible. Last edited by jnkirk1974; 07-23-2014 at 05:25 PM.. |

On a drag racing track, BMS always beats Dinan by a lot... Look it up on youtube.

I don't see a dinan car ever coming close just from past history for they never push the limits or even come half way of what the car is capable of. So basically a great way to sale product with out a lot of R&D with a high profit margin. No need to push the limits when you banking. Last edited by m6beast; 07-23-2014 at 09:12 PM.. |

I had a 550 stage 2 and remember the torque delivery. I can't see this M6 putting more torque down on low gears. On highway might be useful ! |

I don't know how others feel and this may sound a bit egotistical but this is how I feel... The more power I have available at the tap of the pedal the better. If the tires spin or not I sure as shit would like to know I have 620-640whp vs 560whp. If there way a road to 700-800whp available for us I would follow the path.
Why you might ask? I don't know I guess it makes me smile and warm n fuzzy inside. That is reason enough for me. Brian |

There was a time where I was happy with "bragging rights horsepower". Now, I want usable power. If I can have 1000hp and can actually use it, bring it on! |
