Ugh - that's going to be a lot harder. Dealers make very little money on ED and they also have very few allocated B6s - so you are asking for them to give up an allocated car and make almost nothing. Probably will get easier as the year progresses.

Looks like there is no ED available for B6 for now

I just spoke with a dealer, ED is available for the B6. Very tempting...

The first post in this thread said that both ED and PCD are available (FWIW), unless things have changed since then.

We got a token $3k off on our order. Then again, that's all we asked for, and just for the hell of it. Seven percent off for ED (per M6-Coupe's link, if available) does sound pretty good, though. Heck, that's about $10k off, if well-optioned.

I got a good quote for ED, but even with a good discount, the 55% residual at 10k miles is horrible. I might wait a couple months to see if that residual goes up.

From the North American BMW website:
M6 0 to 60 mph: 4.1 seconds
M6 (Competition Package) 0 to 60 mph: 4.0 seconds
B6 0 to 60 mph: 3.6 seconds

That's a major performance difference!

I'm just happy that the order apparently did make it into the first round of production that you mentioned previously.
Did you get any individual options?

But those numbers on North America BMW website are not accurate.
From the real world result (C&D) M6 (Coupe and GC) can go 0-60 in 3.7 second
Convertible is a little slower. Competition package must be a little faster

Well, it should be interesting to see what the B6 can do in the real world. With almost equal vehicle weights in GC form, and the B6 with almost 50 more horsepower and almost 100 more lb-ft of torque over the M6.

Yes we have to see. Just keep in mind that S63tu is highly underrated.
As a reference for M6 GC, Dinan has reported 618HP, 576 lb-ft compare to 560HP, 500 lb-ft (manufacturer claim).
http://www.dinancars.com/product/d44...ries&mid=1172/

Also for 2015 B6, Dinan reported 540 HP, 574 lb-ft compare to 540 HP, 538 lb-ft (manufacturer claim)
http://www.dinancars.com/product/d44...ries&mid=1234/

Now let's wait to see what is the actual power and torque of 2016 B6 and how fast she jumps off the line.

Did you get a production number? If so, did anybody tell you when the production week is?

We got strung along by the first dealership we went to when we ordered the M6GC. They claimed to have allocation, and it turned out they did not. At least if you have a production number then the car presumably will be built sometime this model year. You can call BMW customer relations at 800-831-1117 with the production number and find out more info than the dealer may be willing to share.

Don't have a number yet, but I have ordered a few cars from this dealer, I have faith in him.

This order has a good amount of individual options, so I don't expect a production week anytime soon. It's probably going to be July.

Just Curious. What are the "individual options"? The only individual option I am aware of is the titanium exhaust system. What else is there?

It was just a special order paint and changed steering wheel leather color. Usually if you order paint or leather individual colors that are on the list, it takes a couple months extra. But if you do a special order for something that isn't on the list it takes even longer.

I got an email from BMW NA stating that the earliest production slot I could get for a special order is third week of July.

Our car is in production. Yay! We even have the VIN #.

CA says actual production date is unknown at this time. Just for the hell of it, I called the 800#, and the recording said the estimated completion date is April 29. I assume that is the completion date for the body-in-white from the BMW assembly line (about one week - that makes sense based on our M6GC order last year), and then the car is sent to Alpina for completion. It is also my understanding that it takes about two weeks for Alpina to complete the car, so that would put actual completion about mid-May. Works for me. Hopefully, I can find out what ship the car ends up on so that I can track it across the Atlantic.

Nice!

I am confused about the process, who paints the car? Alpina? Or bmw?

I'm not really sure. I first read about the body-in-white thing from Car and Driver If true, then, according to Wikipedia Alpina would paint it. That seems odd to me, though. It would make more sense to me for BMW to assemble the painted parts and let Alpina focus on the mechanicals.

I think it makes most sense to send the car back to bmw and then paint it, but I don't think that is happening.

I guess I will find out when I do my ED.
