Just as BMW officially premieres the all new 6-series cabrio at the 2011 NAIAS this week, we are given the best look yet at the production intent 6-series coupe, which up until now has been clad in heavy camouflage. This vermillion red test car shows off styling that resembles the 6-series convertible, yet draws on styling cues from the stunning Concept Gran Coupe. The overly small wheels are only winter wheels/tires for testing purposes and the production wheels will undoubtedly be more stylish and fill out the wheel arches much better.

The model spied here appears to be a 640i or 640d coupe, which should be powered by BMW's inline 6-cylinder turbo N55 motor. The 6-series coupe is expected to enter production in July of this year.

Here is the BMW announced production schedule for the F12 / F13 6-series coupe and convertible:

MY 2012:

March 2011 - 650cv (cabrio)
July 2011 - 650cp (coupe)
September 2011 - 640cp/cv
September 2011 - 650xi cp/cv

I don't think those headlights will work all that well.

Is it me or is BMW trying to unify their design language throughout the line?

Each model is starting to look the same...sort of like Audi.

I like that concept, actually. Every BMW will have a signature touch to each car, but at the same time each series will have their own identity. Good job BMW

This is either the 640i or 640d Coupe. It does not look elegant because your distraction is the smaller wheels which are strictly for compulsory winter use.

You will learn more about the new 6er coupe next month.

I'd have to disagree. Every BMW now is getting boring and you seem to follow a trend of coming back to older design patterns, and I personally do not like that.

The front looks very feminine and incomplete. The vert seems to flow much better.

It doesn't look terrible, but you know what it damn sure doesn't look like? Eighty grand. You know how bada** I could make an M3 with eighty grand? Sounds like a racing cam to me.. and it's still a coupe!

But if you're into this look I guess it's got "sleekness" or what have you, but I couldn't justify getting this car over a similar model benz simply because it doesn't stack up look wise.

For those on the waiting list enjoy your new bimmer!

In all honestly, I feel the new 6er's front looks like that of a china made and designed car??? No offence to anyone though. This is what I feel.

Anyways as with all BMW's designs, initial feel will be sorta negative, their designs grow on you. BTW I found F10 ugly too before they launched the car. After sometime, i slowly grew to love the design. I guess it will be same for the new 6er as well. We will slowly grow to love it
