2013 M6 vs 2015 M4

Hi Guys - been a long time lurker, (coming from a G37). Anyways - I think I'm ready to take the plunge into the M series. However I have a predicament - take an older 2013 M6 or get a newer 2015 M4. Is there any major technology differences between the two that I am missing?

Also - would you take a 2013 M6 with 27k miles for 55k over a newer 2014 M4 with let's say 8-10k miles in the range of 59-61k?

I'm obviously posting in the M6 section - but would like honest opinions/advice. Why take an older car (which will be 4 years old in the next year) over a newer car/why take a take with almost 16k more mileage.

I'm also scared that BMW may remodel the M6 soon. Should I wait?

Any input is appreciated, thanks!

I don't know why you would wait if you are considering a 2013 M6?

That aside, they are very different cars. M6 is more of a brute force cruiser while the M4 more fun in the mountain roads. On the freeway the M6, even a 2013 model (560HP) will crush the M4.

I am currently driving M4, great handling, looks great, slightly better technology over M6
but M6 is a no brainer mate. Cant beat M6 in any form apart from its handling where a tuned M4 would do better. M6 has that presence always.

Well, most likely purchasing the M6 this week, but I'm nervous if they do a complete remodel for 2018 to the body. I don't want it to be outdated in a year lol. I am aware that the M6 will crush the M4, that is not my concern

Even though it will have significantly more mileage?

You won't see a new model M6 for at least 3 years in the States, and then it may be called the M8.

Oh I know you don't want the M6 to be outdated but since it doesn't look like you plan to spend money for a new one, I was just curious why you care when it comes out.

Of course assuming if M6 gets a major update next year then it would push you to get the M4, that I can understand.

Anyways, like another post said, doesn't look like the M6 is getting major update anytime soon.

I came from a 2012 M3 and I looked at both the M6 and the new M4. For me the M6 was better looking, more powerful, nicer interior, mostly better tech (the HK system in the M4 is weak imho). That said, I find the M6 to be very big compared to the old M3.

EOP is a long time away yet for the chassis, unsure if the M6 versions will be killed off earlier though, but typically they aren't stopped before production for the chassis is, just introduced later.

Sir, I've owned a 2014 M6 and now own a 2016 M4. I cannot stand the S55 motor on the M4. In fairness I've owned 2 e92 M3's which have the high rev S65 V8. I drive now a 2012 audi V10.

I've never enjoyed nor bonded with the M4, IMHO it's tinny sounding and pekie in it's power. I understand it's more powerful than the S65 but it lack soul to me.

The M6 while lacking the exuberance of a high reving v8 or v10 still has that kind of presence. the V8 still gives you that grunt AND personality.

I have on order a 17' M6 to replace my M4, R8 and TTRS.

Good luck wit your choice.

If you are looking at a 2013 M6 and not a 2016/17, it seems to me that you can't afford an updated model anyways, so why do you care if they change the body style??

It's not about affording... I believe it's all about what you want. When I got my M6 (brand new) the sticker was 120k. now at the end of the lease it's just 63k with only 34k on the clock. To be honest with you I would buy this car 3 years ago if it was available for 63k as lease return
And today, I am not gonna go for 2017 since the new generation is on its way... maybe one more year or a little more...I might get an M4 to fill this gap

I was in the same boat. I wanted the newest body style M6 and didnt wanna have the new one come out for a while, for personal reason, so i understand. Some people obviously dont care but I i did too after driving a damn 1998 camry for years I wanted the newest and best out. Seems like the new one isnt gonna be until 2018 since they just did a refresh 'facelift' on the 2016's... I thought about the new M4 too so it would be a LONG time before there was a new body style... You can see which choice I made though.. People who dont really know cars think my 2013 was brand new off the lot. Youll have a couple years before a remodel. Too many people had the M4 to me. Grab yourself an M6 man!
