Carbon Mirror caps
So I picked up the OEM caps ripped off the old painted caps quick and easy. I went to install the new ones and must have not lined up a couple of tabs just perfectly and fractured the tails a bit. The remaining pins snapped to place and it seems secure but I am concerned. Am I the only idiot to do this? The factory plastic caps are made with a different clip and is much more resilient than the glued on plastic clips on the carbon.
I just don't want this thing flying off and hitting someone. |

I actually took my mirror piece off as well to avoid that. They definitely need to make stronger clips for the carbon caps. Usually you can just pop them on and off like other models but these are tricky and require more finess

Usually your dealer will take care of you and just say it was a manufacturing defect and replace it. I paid my tech for an hour labor and he disassembled the mirrors and carefully pried off the covers and did the install perfectly. It just takes a lot of time, even a pro like him it took about 20 mins.
