Random kick in the front seats
Hello guys! I just bought a bmw 640d and i started to notice some strange kick in my seat after I turn off the car. I like the car a lot, but I cant understand why it does that after i turn off the engine and sit in the car ) It litterally punches my butt.

Could it be the seat belt? Since the seatbelt roller is beneath the seat...could it be the tension put on the roller to take slack out of the seat belt?

Before trying to “fix it”…I would first determine if it could be the culprit.
If you’re sitting in the seat…can you feel anything if you pull then release the seat belt to its retracted position? I only tossed it out as a possibility because it is something beneath the seat that can move on its own if you have the active “hug” seatbelts…so this may be a possibility…especially if the “kick” you feel is associated with the movement of the seat belt.

It really feels like it comes from directly below the middle of the seat. The seatbelt tensioner is a definite possibility. What I can add to the OP is that the same thing happens on both the driver and passenger seat simultaneously.
I dont think its something that needs 'fixed', I would just like to know what is and the seatbelt tensioner seems a viable option. |
