BMS Stage 1 vs Dinan stage 1
Im looking to do the Dinan Stage 1 Upgrade to my 650I Gran Coupe since they claim a 60+ increase in HP and it does not void the factory warranty.
Has any done this to there F06/F12/F13 and whats your feedback on this? Or has tried the Burger Motorsports Stage 1? thanks

I am thinking about doing this myself, there is more info on the vs, in the 5 series forums.
From what I gather Dinan is a milder tune. BMS stage 1 550 walks DINAN stage 1 550. Take that for what its worth. Also for the N63TU its now a piggy just like BMS.. One costs 3100 and the other 500.. I would be annoyed paying 3100 and the guy who pays 5 blows by you. I have a 2012 650i so its an N63 an Dinan is a flash tune..N63 also has issues with Drive Train Malfunction/injectors fixed by CCP. I have not had any issues, but am debating going with the safer route..even though my warranty is up in march...Since the BMS stage 1 is plug and play and 500..why not try it out? I just may do so myself.. |

It was my understanding that the warranty policies have changed between Dinan and BMW. Dinan I think states that they will "match" BMW's warranty. Meaning if Dinan's stuff breaks or their stuff causes other stuff to break BMW will not honor it, but Dinan will. If you do some bragging you will find some that have had bad luck with getting Dinan onboard to help with some issues.
As far as the tune goes I have it on my '14 650i. It is very noticeable how much it really pulls and just keeps going. I did expect to get more punch off the line. Installing a Pedalbox address it not "feeling" fast off the line. I know some people with the BMS tune. Seems like a much better value, but it just isn't the same quality. Although Dinan is not able to crack the CPU they do control many more feeds in and out than other companies. I say go Dinan and don't look back. |

@NYC650IX_GC , here is the difference.
Dinan advertised +60hp at the crank. BMS advertised +30-40hp at the wheel. For the peace of mind, of course go with Dinan, but keep in mind that Dinan doesn't extend BMW warranty. They just pay BMW to fix your car. But for the amount of gain that you get on the Dinan, I would take your $3500 and give you BMS stage 1 and tell you that I will pay your BMW bill as long as you keep the setting at default and the damage is caused by the tune itself. I have used BMS Stage 1 on my 650GC and currently testing the RaceChip Ultimate.

Thanks for the input fellas but I'm still a lil unsure about pulling the trigger on this upgrade. I hate any hassle on warranty repairs. Going to do a little more research on this!!

Thes best place to read up on people's experience is on the 550 forums. You will need to decide on cost / value. It should be noted that the Dinan does have an intercooler setup which while expensive will give you more power especially on hot days. 6 grand is no small thing, but then again a brand new 650xi grand coupe is no small investment either.
I like the Dinan because the dealer installs it and I like to have one set of wrenches working on my car. Good luck. |
