Waxing the Carbon Fiber roof ok?

I wanted to know if I take it to a car wash and they use that hot wax on it is that bad for the roof? Also if I wanted to wax the car myself am I allowed to wax the roof?

I have polished and waxed it. Even used some compounds to remove light scratches. It's clearcoated just like ur paint

I had to get some bird poop mark wet sanded from my CF roof. It can be treated just like normal clearcoat.

Why do you want to wax your brand new M6 with less than 500 miles on it?
and if you have any frozen color, you cannot wax it...

I paid 1K as soon as my M6 arrived to get it polished, detailed and then coated with Cquartz Finest. It's a relatively new product that coats my paint and other surfaces in a thin layer of glass like coat. The water streaks (not beads) off my car. Much better than any other product I have used in the past two decades. Cquartz Finest lasts two years on paint surfaces.

anyone who lives in OC should go visit this guy www.enviousdetailing.com

Whatever he does- it won't affect the Frozen paint right? I didn't put any coat on my current one- but I definitely want to for this next one since I plan to keep her the full term

Ok fair enough, but you actually paid that 1K for kind of protection. Polishing and waxing is a procedure to remove a thiny layer of paint which is affected by environment (ie sunlight)... a brand new car has a brand new paint, unless it had sat in dealer lot under straight sunlight for long time, which is usually not the case for M6... They usually park M5/M6/6er in a controlled environment or even their showroom...

I thought waxing provided a "protective layer" over the paint.

Your car has clear coat which is kind of protection. I think you don't need waxing right now... maybe next year...

I think the process is 'paint correction'.

Even new cars have quite a few imperfections in the clear coat.

I believe it's the best time in a car's life to lightly polish and then apply a paint sealant.

Yes Eric is one of the best in the business. Ever since I met him four years ago, I have never gone to anyone else. I just noticed that my car is on his website

I have detailed for over 15 years on all my own cars and friends. I have yet to see a brand new car even showroom kept not need some type of correction. From bentleys to Hondas you should be shocked to see the buffer marks light sanding marks etc you will find upon close examination. But the average person doesn't honestly care so you have to ask yourself how perfect do you want it. Anyone applying cquartz finest is after the absolute best most close to perfect finish.

Especially if the dealer gets their hands on it before you pick it up. One wash from their guys and it's swirl mark city. I've seen those guys scrubbing 100k+ cars like they're stainless steel refrigerators.

The worst my paint has ever been is when its brand new. So many imperfections, scratches, rail/truck/storage dirt and the $x.xx paint protection from the dealer is worthless.

My car was on the showroom new and took a week to get it looking good. The $8/hr guys in the back are washing 20 cars a day to deliver, trust me, it needs work the day you pick it up. Usually get paint correction as soon as possible.

I'm not sure if this is an OCD coming out thread or just car guys being car guys.

ETA: on topic...when I got the car, there was some etching on the CF clear coat. Some light polishing with the DA buffer and then Meguiars NXT 2.0 on the whole car, including the roof. Routine dusting or Meguiars Ultimate Quik Detailer (on the roof, too) to keep it looking good.

I don't have dog-eyes, so the paint looks pretty damn good to me.
