Thanks - I ordered Tanzanite Blue without having seen the colour on a car (only on the colour samples). I'm glad it worked out!
Why the wait - In the UK the current registration plates include two digits that represent the age of the car. These digits change every 6 months (1st March and 1st September). If you buy a car anywhere near the change over dates, people tend to wait to get the new registration digits as it affects the residual values. My car is being registered with '14' plates and these can't be legally driven on the road until 1st March. Currently the UK registration digits are '63' which covers the period from 1st Sep 13 - 28th Feb 14. '14' goes from 1st Mar 14 - 30th Aug 14 and then they'll got to '64' on 1st Sep. The UK used to change the registration digit just once a year, but the demand spikes were pretty huge for the automotive industry and they lobbied for two registration changes every year to smooth things out a little. I believe in many countries the residuals are more affected by the model year. Here we'd ask what 'reg' a car is, rather than what year. The UK registration system still produces peaks and troughs in demand. My sales guy at the North Oxford dealership for instance had a quota of 3 new car sales for February, which he missed, but a quota of 16 new cars for March, which he has already blown away! Two of which are ours. One of the fun things about the change in registration digits here is it makes for a great game of eye-spy. There will be many kids in the back of their parents cars looking out for brand new '14' plates over the weekend! Last edited by mash11; 02-27-2014 at 09:08 AM.. Reason: correction |

Fantastic colour, wish you many years of safe motoring.
A well specified 6 GC is a stunner at many levels! Noticed you got the matte aluminium exterior trim on the M Sport. I did too and it really makes the car's coupe lines pop!

More pics?
Would love more pictures - especially of the color!
I am/was thinking deep sea blue would be perfect, but damn, that color has me intrigued.

I also took your advise and got a local detailer to prepare the car with the GTechniq glass coat. The dealership even provided my guy space in the showroom to do the work before collecting the cars yesterday. |
