Lol wut. Offer only 10 cars with the high end sound system and give it more power? Why in the hell is a sound package not available to the others who will have to shell out 120k? A stereo does not make a car limited edition.

I can only guess that this system will be available in the 2015 models. Gotta be. If not, its a BS move.

What do you mean the sound system isn't available for other cars? It's available on every M6, not to mention 6 series, 7 series, and so forth. What's "limited" in this car is actually the ridiculous branding on the upholder cover and some minor interior details. The B&O Sound System and Competition Package (which gives you the additional power) is available on all M6s, not just these 100 units.

They should slap an AMG badge while they are at it.

I'd prefer the sound be delivered through a 600hp v12 with a 9k redline

I have to disagree. I'm looking for M6's now and not even considering ones without B&O. My M5 B&O sounds superior to any system I've ever heard before. It just takes the right music and bit rate (Kbps). It sounds like the person is sitting there singing the song to you. You feel like it's coming dead from the center if you have the setting on Studio. Not from any other system have I heard it like this before. One thing I would say is lacking is the bass, which hits much harder in h/k systems than B&O. Other than that it's a wonderful system IMO.

Mine is always open to hold my never empty cup of coffee. So who gives a shit what it says when you don't look at it. Most have it open to hold the key in place anyway.

I think this is a very stupid move by BMW, if you are going to release an audiophile signature version of a car, no audiophile would choose Bang and Olufsen.
The best brands, dont have a good "design department" so it would be pointless to have an aesthetic version of a car based on one of these brands.
Bowers and wilkins is an audiophile brand, as well as Focal, these two companies are ones of the few that invest in design to make their products look sharper than average. And still i wouldnt like a car version of those.

Masserati did a great job with their quattroporte and bowers and wilkins thou

I'm still trying to figure out why someone would pay an extra $6K for this. I priced out the exact same car on-line (650GCxi) and it was $110,405 (Granted those two exterior colors are not avail, but I chose an individual color). The speaker grills are cool - but seriously, $6K extra? What am I missing?

I'm with ///SAL. As an audio engineer I found the B&O option in our M6s disappointing. The only advantage over the stock sound system is slightly superior in-cabin sound distribution. However, the B&O, like the stock sound system, is decent at best when it comes to audio fidelity. Granted a car is a very difficult place to really recreate an audiophile grade listening experience because of the very nature of the environment. 1) cars are mobile, and imperfections on road surfaces will always introduce artifacts into the listening environment 2) cabins are small enclosed spaces not optimized for sonic quality 3) you're mostly in an off-center seating position in relation to the source, 4) there are space and weight restrictions in cars, etc. Creating an audiophile grade system for cars is an uphill battle for sure but, for as much as I love their consumer products, the B&O isn't even close to being top dog in this respect. This becomes even more apparent once you listen to the Burmester option in Porsches.

I think the B&O system in the BMWs is one of the best sounding stock systems I have ever heard. However, I agree with you, it is not an audiophile system.

I still would get it and after listening to the B&O in the Audi S6, I believe the BMW is far superior to that and is almost 1/2 the price of the Audi B&O!
