So let me get this straight: We were beaten by the RS7 some time ago and now we are competing it with other cars so that it makes us feel good?!
I like the review, but I'd say they should work on getting it back to where it really should be rather than comparing it with a Jaguar! (with all do respect to Jaguar lovers) |

Best Review Of M6 But...
Those damn AMGs are catching up so rapidly! I keep saying BMW have spent too much time chasing alternative drive and Eco tech that they have underestimated their competition.
I really hope the next gen is the leap that puts leagues ahead again. |

It's inevitable that AMG is going to wise-up with a more modern gear box any minute now. THEN it'll be WAR. (In a good way! ) .

The M6 Gran Coupe impressed me. That's for sure. Looks like it might be worth the extra $20k over the RWD E63-S variant. That said, $20k is an awful lot.

You're incorrect.
You can't get the 4MATIC model in the UK. He even states that fact in the video. "But because all the UK's cars are RWD only, we'll have to put up with a best time of 4.1secs in the S - which is still... rapid. But we do at least get the S, which will set you back roughly £10,000 extra over the regular E63's £74,945 list price." http://www.topgear.com/uk/mercedes-b...-4matic-driven Same thing in Australia. "Australia was lucky enough to get the E63 AMG S in rear-wheel drive." http://www.sunshinecoastdaily.com.au...amg-s/2083091/

The MCT is really starting to get it's butt kicked by the DCT. BMW's DCT keeps getting stronger and even the ZF 8-speed seemed to be a tad bit more lively than the MCT. The SLS BS and CLA45 have the DCT. Don't understand why they can't implement it throughout the AMG lineup.

The only thing I don't like about the MCT is that it downshifts to first in manual mode around 2-3 mph. So when you slow down for a yield sign in 2nd, right as you give a little throttle to continue on you get thrust back in the seat cause at the exact same moment it decided to downshift to first for you. Horrible! That's my only complaint, otherwise it responds will to inputs and upshift and downshifts very quickly. I find the MCT is superior to the ZF 8-speed. Not sure what Chris liked better about the ZF. Although the supercharged jag I drove wasn't an wasn't an S, maybe the S is better although I doubt it. |

The MCT is an outstanding transmission. In the automatic driving modes (C, S, and S+), I actually find it to be on par with the DCT in terms of quickness. However, the MCT is also smoother/less jerky than the DCT. In M mode, the DCT outshines the MCT. Prior to owning my C63 w/ MCT, I had a 2013 F30 M Sport 335i with the 8-speed ZF Sport Auto. transmission. In M mode, the upshifts were noticeably quicker than the upshifts in M mode in my C63. That's the only area in which I felt the ZF 8-speed held an advantage. I was absolutely blown away by the lighting-fast upshifts that transmission was capable of. I can't figure it out. Downshifts with the MCT are instantaneous in M mode. Upshifts, on the other hand, just aren't quite as quick.
