LOL!!! Your comparing a BIG GT car with a small sports car?

Yea right. Porsche is f'd up. By the time you option it up to even a normal level for a car in this class it's a lot more.
Of course, it's apples and oranges anyway.

Yes, BMW doesn't charge anything for the extras

Besides, I actually went through "build your own" of each site and the Porsche comes out $2-3K more. Hardly significant when buying a $120K car. I would be more than willing to pay $2-3K more for Porsche's quality over any BMW.

I'm not so sure that's the case. Let's see:

Both are high performance 2 door cars, both have two rear seats inappropriate for adults on trips longer than your neighborhood supermarket, equally optioned will cost around the same, both have daily driver usability, beautifully finished interiors, 0-60 times are pretty much identical, and more importantly, the target customer is the same: 45+ year old man.

Also, contrary to all the car magazine's beliefs, not every 45+ year old man plays golf and needs to carry 2 sets of clubs everywhere he goes. If he does, then I might understand why he chooses the M6.

This 45+ year old man is either divorced or has kids old enough to drive their own car (undoubtedly gifted by his/her wealthy dad to keep him/her away of his 911/M6), so the argument about the smaller rear seats on the Porsche is not enough to be a deciding factor. If this 45+ year old man does have small children and/or needs to use the rear seats often, he wouldn't be buying either the 911 or the M6. That's what the M5 is for.

When it does become an apple and oranges situation is when you compare the handling, overall performance and driver involvement that each one provide. The morbidly obese M6 doesn't stand a chance against the 911 in any of those areas.

Great shots PalBay - I hope whomever parked the M6 is now able to see how not to park a sports car.

This is at the BMW Performance Center in Spartanburg SC... I was just there last week and I asked one of the employees when they were getting the new M6. Funny he told me they were going to have an event for the M6 there with customers able to drive the car. Didnt know he meant the following week, might have stayed a bit longer had I known.

I don't think that just because they are both coupes, have 4 seats (in the BMW at least) and costs the same puts them in the same basket.

Of course the 911 is more of a drivers car and handles better. But I could take three buddies and our luggage in extreem comfort to the Ring, drive the **** out of it and then cruise back the 1000miles to my hometown in Sweden in the M6.

I wouldn't even be able to imagine trying to get two adults in to the back seat of the 911.. let alone fit four bags in the trunk.

They are worlds apart and neither Porsche or BMW built them to compete with each other.

Disappointing when performance car drivers do not know how to back the car into the spot for obvious reasons.

But, nice side by side pics.

aarrrgh I so wanted to get the full LED lighting. I was at the end of my rope and had to shave a few options and the exec pkg was putting me over. It was either that or the individual interior and I went with that.

Nonsense, but nice try. I never said BMW didn't charge for options. I guess I should have said their "build your own" website wasn't a complete cluster fuck like Porsche's.

AND it's nearly impossible to figure out what the hell you're getting.
1. All but crappy paint is extra.
2. Want decent wheels? A LOT more.
3. 12 seats options further complicated by color/leather quality options.
4. 6 packages and when you look for individual options half the packages must be cancelled, creating a nightmare of the trying to figure out the best way to just get the things you want on the car.

Compare a fully optioned M6 with a fully optioned 911s vert? I did. Selected a PDK tranny, but no exotic suspension or ceramic brakes and I was at $137K. $13K more.

So like others have said since my posting. 1) The REAL price of the 911 is far more that the price of the base car and has a delta unlike any other brand on the market. 2) They are different cars targeted differently that most people understand to include their makers.
Don't craft the inane ways they're similar and ascribe that to me to say they're the competitors, and then say they really are different, like I did. That's just moronic.
