looking at buying a 650i

hello, new guy here,

i was looking around for a 650 for awhile found some ok deals from dealers, our anniversary is 9-16 and id like to get my wife a nice used 650i

so i found a private sale locally of an 08 with only 8,000 miles

one owner, all documentation. its a little frustrating because i guess the owner is wealthy and has a "secretary" dealing with the sale. i looked into it its not a dealer. i was at the home, just a pain when it comes to working out the price

with that said, the seller has the car listed at $41,500 and i think thats high. KBB and NADA state that as the value, but id like to pay 35,000

some back and forth i got him to 38,500 and i think thats the lowest he will go.
what do u guys think? is this fair? crazy?

all service records, only towed in once (brake switch?) fixed under warranty, one brake line recall.

original tires, no warranty. just serviced.

i called my bank and they will loan me 36,500 on the car so with 2000 out of pocket i can drive it.

I just don't see the point of buying a used 7 year old car for over $40k that is going to continue to depreciate when you can just go lease a 2015 at a great rate and there are so many more benefits

No BMW warranty goes beyond 6 years of the year of the car
Your services and your repairs will be EXPENSIVE
Not even the extended ones

Lease a 2015 for 3 years for close to the same amount of money if you get a great deal

Well went back to drive it and he apparently sold it. I asked him "if u don't mind me asking, what did u get?" He replied "cash" off to look at a 15!
