VIN Confusion!!

Hi, I want to perform an Instrument Cluster Test on my 13' 640i GC but i know that in order to do so i have to add up the last 7 digits of the VIN... The last 7 digits contain a DY then Numbers... What should I replace the D and Y with? What numbers do they correspond to? Can someone explain clearly for me, Appreciate it
