Built in Radar (Bell STiR+) detector M6 Conv

Hi Guys,
First time poster so sorry in advance if I messed it up.

I recently bought a Bell STiR built in radar detector (the twin of the Escort 8500ci) Currently thinking to put the display above the cup holder, control to right of steering wheel and GPS behind screen. Pls see pics attached.
(sorry, can't figure out how to upload pics)

Any thoughts re pros and cons of this or other suggestions welcome.
Same for the best place to get power, any tricks to removing panels etc.

Many thanks

Nick..

You'll want the display to be visible while driving and not in a location where you'd have to look down to see what's going on.

I highly recommend the display inside the mirror, there is a DIY for it or you can go to www.radar-mirror.com and have him do it for you. Picture attached.

As for the controller, this needs to be easily accessible to you. I personally put mine next to the start / stop button. I found this very easy for me to reach especially when being lasered or muting the unit.

You could also go near the shifter somewhere. Maybe where the display was going.

For power, I don't remember specifics but on my M5, my fuse panel was on the driver side and I placed the controller there as there was space and powered from there as well.

GPS I put behind the speedo/behind the dash, taking the speedo was easier than taking the dash apart for me.

Speaker, this one I placed below the steering wheel column behind the coverings. You could also place behind he speedo

Cool, thanks.
Where did you come thru from the engine bay to the interior?

I have an F10 M5 and there is an entry hole above the steering column underneath the wipers on the driver side. On the engine side you'll see the felt covering all along the wall. Look for a circular shaped cover using that same felt. Wish I had pictures of it. I pulled it off and it exposed a rubber grommet which gives you access to the interior near the steering column.

You could also follow the hood latch cable and go that route. You shouldn't have to drill any holes, just gotta be patient and look for an entry
