Its an m6. Its never gonna be a true m car is it? Leave that to the m3s and 1m coupes and hoping it applies to the newer m2/3/4.

M6 is more near CL 63 to me, and if we test one next to the other we'll not see so many advantages for the Merc.
On the other hand, M6 with Individual interior is awesome

They are not direct competitors imo. The 6-Series is enormously bigger than the SL. More like a CL competitor than SL. The new SL, even though it looks big in the eye (probably because of being so wide) is actually pretty compact, no longer than say, a Skoda Octavia.

The m5 and m6 have huge engines but they aren't pure sports cars Dont they share a platform with a rolls Royce? Also the dash on the m6 is so tall and expansive it seems difficult to place. That said I drive a 1 series so I'm very biased. Also if i had the coin, I'd get the m6 over most anything for the looks alone. The sl is quite hideous.

I'm not sure if you are being serious or sarcastic. I googled M5 vs. comparisons and the first hit was

http://www.caranddriver.com/comparis...omparison-test

In which the M5 comes in last place...beaten by a S6... not a RS6 but a S6.

I don't understand why they keep comparing a 4-seater and a 2-seater and expecting them to compare well...

Of course the MB feels more rigid, as a 2-seater, IT SHOULD!

Don't forget the merc also has "comfort" mode as its default as well which, most likely, means its comfort setting is just programmed sportier than the M's.

Im sure the M6 is stiff and sporty enough for 95% of the people out there, but alas fanboy's will always cry and shout. One day Chris is the best reviewer around to you guys and the next he is a "paid off" schmuck? It is well known that there have been many mixed reviews on all of BMW's new cars including the M6...being softer, less communicative, and generally less sporty than previous iterations. I think the M6 is a much better looking car and would easily take it over the SL, even if it is pure fact that it is slower and less fun to drive, simply because it speaks to me more. Anyhow, he did pick the M6 initially, didn't he? I'm sure you M6 guys would be in an uproar if he put it up against a cheaper and lowly GTR that will surely smack it on a track and perhaps destroy the M in a straight line...at least from a launch. Bah, it is a BMW forum I suppose.
Personally I don't think the two cars should have even be compared. I think the
CL63 AMG and the M6 is a better comparison.

How do you feel about the E60 M5?

Being the benchmark goes beyond what magazines think.

The suspension, steering and throttle settings dramatically affect feel and performance. I too am shocked that Chris discounts this entirely. That's what makes these cars so special...their duality.

I am amazed at the stiffness of the car in sport plus. Night and day from comfort.

These guys review hundreds or cars, but if they're gonna do it, they should take the time to do it right

On the sportiest setting my M6 feels like its ready for the track. Very stiff. Again if he was driving in comfort I can understand maybe a slight wobble when going hard but I haven't noticed. Maybe it was the rear end kicking out on him a little and he thought it was a wobble. I don't know.

Chris Harris is an awesome journalist and while some of you may disagree with this controversial review I am actually quite surprised the M6 did as well at it did. I have driven an SLS numerous times and sensation + power wise it kills my M5 - so for him to say the SL is better is quite something. And for the M6 to even be compared in this group having such a large price difference is also a feat for BMW. Both great cars and there is a reason that BMW just hired the chassis engineer from AMG - they are doing something right! And btw, I still won't buy one !! LOL.

Guys this guy drives million dollar cars and real pure road race cars like the 911 etc. so when he says it wobbles he is comparing it to cars that he has experience with under all conditions. Unless you guys have driven all the cars Chris has to compare it with then take his word for it.
Chris Harris is not like the magazines, and is pretty consistent with his reviews. If you question this guys reviews than you better not read or watch any reviews on cars anymore.
He is basically as good as it gets to non biased reviews.

Understandable and I agree. I'm just saying I haven't noticed anything from my experience with different cars some worse than others. I'm sure he knows what he is talking about as for me I'm happy with my M6's handling. That's all.

Too bad for m

Aside from looks, maybe the dct, the merc is a better car. A lot of bmw fan boys just cant accept it. I hated the old met bc of its weight and it was a slower car than the old m6, now it's reversed. So I don't like the m6 anymore vs the SL. I'm not a badge loyalist.
