640 GC vs. S7

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
looking at the specs/price, why is a 640 so much more expensive (loaded with options) than an s7 which has more HP? Obviously since this is a BMW forum there will be a biase but can anyone give me a pro's/con's for this comparison?

For me it was the looks, I think the interior and exterior looks are a step above the Audi. Also, if you are leasing, the monthly payments shouldn't be that much different since BMW's rates are usually better.

BMW put the 6GC near Panamera in terms of pricing. Also the options and the quality of materials is at the highest level.

You almost always have to pay more for looks for anything in life.

Maybe you are paying a bit more for looks, however the 2013 650i has a more powerful engine than the S7 according to the Audi brochure I was reading last week because I have a co-worker currently I'm the market for a new car. Maybe that can justify the price tag if you're still undecided

Well I'm looking at a 640 actually and for a fully loaded one it still cost more than an s7. So I'll have to just test drive em of both to see if there's a difference. I do like the look obviously but we'll have to take into consideration the price.

I understand 100%.If only money wasn't an issue, we would all be driving super exotics, lol.
You definitely have to make the best decision for you, and staying with a certain price range is definite deciding factor. Sounds like a test drive is in order to help you make your final choice. Let us know how it goes! !

Most buyers look beyond hp and other figures in the spec sheet, and go with their emotions when selecting the 6'er. It is usually viewed as a reward and an indulgence as opposed to an investment. It is something that you fall in love with at first sight and tell yourself that OMG, this is it. This is what I have been waiting for (at least for the moment), and you just do it. No, there is neither logic nor formula justifying the specs and the price. This is ultimately an emotional decision. If the sight of the car or the notion of owning such a car gets your heart racing, you have already made the decision. This girl's for you. The rest is straightforward.

For me looks are just as important as specs and although I really love the A7/S7 it didn't give me the same feeling as the 6'er or CLS (I used to own a 2012, long story) inside or out. Don't get me wrong, I thought the a7/s7 was really nice and I wanted one but I wanted the 6'er and CLS more.

Ditto on that. I test drove the A7 prior to taking delivery of my old F10 550i. And the Audi A7 3.0T fully loaded is a mighty fine car. Will I choose it over the F10 (or my F06 now)? Close but no cigar. Once I do a comparison test drive of the A7/S7 (handling was not majorly different between the 2), no way I will take the S7 over the F10, much less the F06!

The RS7, however, should be a force to be reckon with......

I got a "have to have it" feeling, and couldn't ignore it I haven't felt this way about a car purchase in a long time.... Pretty excited, now its time to go buy a double stroller that fits in this car

Thanks so much guys!

Ill check on the year but pretty sure it's a 2013 since its 30 days old on the lot. I honestly didn't do any research on this car. It took me 30 min from the time i saw it to driving away in it. Best impulse buy yet!! My last impulse buy was my e63 m6 and that was along the lines of biggest let downs

Btw msrp 86500 and I got an instant 12500 discount. I'm guessing these things aren't doing so well for BMW? There's definitely more rational purchases out there
