F10 M5 vs F06 M6 GC Handling?

I'm looking to trade in my e92 m3 for either an m5 or m6 gc. I drove both and it seemed like they handled similarly. Can anyone chime in on whether one handles better than the other?

M6 GC is better and obviously more expensive. Besides better performance, you get better looking car inside and out.

It would be nice to know if the springs, shocks, sways, alignment settings etc are different. I suspect they are.

FWIW, CH seemed to enjoy the Gran Coupe more than the other variants.

Where are the CGs for each car documented?

There have been some track tests done that I've watched online that have the M6GC beating the M5 on the track. Most of us wouldn't or couldn't drive either car to it's potential, so unless you plan to race, get the car you like.

M6 GC with CP, beats the LCI M5 which I have, and I have the M6 GC CP on order.

Before buying the M6 GC, I test drove the M5 several several times but just couldn't convince myself to buy it. First time I test drove the M6 I had a massive grin. It handles way better than the M5.

You posted an M5 vs M6 Coupe lap time, which is absolutely no way the matchup would yield such a result except for driver error. The M6 Coupe should have been faster, so I would recommend taking your source into question. Who was driving both cars in these laps you've provided? Same driver? Same conditions?

Not sure tbh. But m6gc is also longer, heavier, and same width. So how can it handle better?

It's interesting you posted the same thread on M5 forum. I know you want to have different people's idea, but it's funny you posted the same website link over there and now you post those people's comment here
Anyways, performance wise both cars have the same engine, the same transmission, the same differential, the same braking system (under hood they are identical) and with minor difference they have similar suspension and steering. They have almost the same weight. it means you have to expect almost the same lap time and not significantly different! however with basic physic understanding, comparing two cars with almost the same specs, the car with lower center of gravity and wider rims must have better handling at curves.
The majority of people buy these cars are not intending to buy it for track and it's most likely DD car so to me you are paying 25K more for look and it's up to you if you want to pay this money for that car which is more beautiful!

According to the link you posted here and the one you posted on M5 forum:
1) The one you posted here (M5 vs M6 coupe)
This is ridiculous that the shorter (both length and wheel base), lighter and lower car (M6 Coupe) can be beat by M5 since both are almost identical in all technical specs. FYI even M5 guys in that forum quoted M6 Coupe> M5 correct?
2) The one you posted on M5 forum:
There is just one record shows the M5 beats M6 GC recorded in Mantorp park Sweden:
http://fastestlaps.com/tracks/mantorp_park.html
and this shows 0.4 second (1:34.00 vs 1:34:40) difference that can be easily any simple thing like just one driver's mistake/error
at one curve!!!!

Don't rely on those results from websites! look at this one that I extracted from that website you referred: it says M5 is
Slower than 911 Carrera (997) and faster than 911 turbo (997) ! make sense?
Slower than 2007 M3 and faster than 2011 M3 CP! also this?
Slower than A45 AMG and Faster than C63 AMG! and this?
So Porsche, BMW and Mercedes-Benz must be crazy to design such that things and people must be more crazy to
spend lots of money to buy a slow car compare to the similar one in its lineup (997 Carrera vs 997 Torbo or M3 vs M3 CP) or higher
Class (C63 vs A45)

http://fastestlaps.com/cars/bmw_m5_f10.html

The results are collected from different events.
These results are all about drivers and not cars(IMO)

Anyways, have fun with your new beast whatever it is
Enjoy the ride .... M5/M6 are amazing Luxury-Sport and fast car

M6 GC isn't exactly heavier. Wet weight (with fluids) it's only 2lbs heavier than the M5 at 4,315lbs. It's only slightly wider but much lower. It all comes down to how it carries it's weight vs the M5. The lower height makes for much less body roll due to a lower center of gravity, this is emphasized even more by the use of carbon fiber on the roof.
