640d vibration on startup - normal?

Just curious to hear from any 640d owners on this.

Does your car startup with a harsh vibration? I know on some cars particularly deisel this is normal but on a 640d this aspect feels unrefined for an otherwise smooth engine.

I notice more on stop/start to the point I always switch it off, my dealer advised this is normal....

Yep, mine’s similar. Just a characteristic of the engine, I guess.

It's a subjective assessment, but no. It should not have a harsh vibration. I feel hardly anything while sat inside the car with the engine idling. With the engine running, open the bonnet and pull your engine cover off. Poke around with your finger - do you feel any vibration through fixed parts of the engine? If you do then others have tracked it down to failed engine and transmission mounts. Or possibly injectors or vacuum hoses. Try running some fuel injection cleaner through the fuel system as a first step
