TPMS Module Location

I've been having error message pop up daily about the TPMS system not functioning properly. Quick reset and it goes away. The sensors in the tires checked out OK. Haven't pursued it any further.
Getting some coding done and was told I could shut down the TPMS if I can unplug the Control Module. I've looked around quite a bit and can't find it.

Anybody know where it is?

2012 F13 650i Msport

Thanks!

Have you replaced the TPMS sensors?
For 2012, it is about time the battery running out.

Did they tell you how much battery left in the sensors? If they have a good tool, they should be able to indicate the battery status.

I didn't ask. I'll try again. Is there a threshold where I should have them replaced?

Thanks

yes - when they start setting off your low tire pressure warning for no reason.

Not really sure, I say 10-15% battery life left is about time to change.

I was being serious. If the TPMS is going off and the pressure is fine and the TPMS sensors are 4-5 years old then change them. Sure they can stick their test tool near the wheel and pick up a signal but that doesnt mean its strong enough for the car to pick up. You will spend hundreds or more for a BMW tech to diagnose or next to nothing for your local goodyear store to put on new TPMS as long as your order them on line. Your local tire shop will rape you for the TPMS.

I'm pretty anal about TPs and use a good quality dial type gauge. My new car will have TPMS, does anyone know how accurate it is?

It is very accurate.
Better than any $20 pressure gauge.

How do I know if my wheels have the TPMS in them without going to a shop to check? When I bring up the tyre status screen it doesn't show pressure or temperature values (coded to) they remain blank.

Usually, TPMS equipped wheel, will use a metal/aluminum valve stem, not rubber.

As I said in the other thread, at least on my F12 it is fixed to the bottom of the car right behind the rear differential. I would assume it is in the same location on your car.

This most certainly does. I assume my RDC is going bad because I got the TPM malfunction warning. I spoke to my service advisor and he mentioned that sometimes one bad sensor can throw off the whole system. I would imagine just one would show a fault and just be greyed out in the I drive. But if any truth to one sensor being faulty and bring down the TPM system, time for that sensor to go.

Ditto Opie55's reply in the other thread...it appears to be a small component (see current part nbr 36-10-6-881-474 below). And the part database lists multiple part nbrs which have been super...if buying used they are retroactively compatible.

I was able to pull the part number but was having trouble locating the module in case I needed to do the replacement myself. My service advisor just confirmed that the 1 rear driver side wheel tpms sensor is shot and keeps throwing the fault code.
Tpms is being replaced and tire balanced. All is good now.
