from my understanding the only way to input text messages is to use the voice-to-text service. But it requires an annual subscription. I think it's like 20 or 30 bucks a month.

Iphone's are not fully compatible with the Office function.
SMS sending is specifically shown as not compatible Some Samsung models are compatible with sending SMS, some arnt. See link for compatibility lists http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...hframedin.aspx

iphone has limited functionality, blackberry has the most, who uses blackberry these days? I can read my mail, text messages & whatsapp alerts. I also use the BMWconnected app, that gives you more stuff. Depends on how you configure the alerts on you iphone too. Good luck.

2016 GC, iPhone 8 Bluetooth setup works fine, contacts are all listed, however email and text do not display at all. Navigation Messages from the BMW app do show up on car though. Anyone have an identical setup where email and text are recognized/appear? If so, how did you set it up? The BMW link above does not even list iPhone newer than 7. Could it be the 8 is not supported? Go to the F25 X3 forum, and on the first page you will see a thread about 2017 nav map updates. Ignore that the tread title says 2017 - it's up to date. A guy named Shawn Sheridan will respond by PM if you ask him for maps. But if you need the code as well as maps, he will give you a source to get those. It costs $50 US. It's legit. I uploaded new maps in my 6 and X3 last week.
