3 months in - my car & mods so far...

Hi all,

I’ve had my M6 for a couple of months now and have been quite busy with it, so thought I’d post up some pics and share my subtle mods so far:

I’ve got a speed limit emulator on order which I’m going to fit and a set of door handles at the body shop being painted to eliminate the chrome section (have wrapped the existing ones in the meantime).

Other bits and pieces included replacing the trunk emblem & wheel centre caps and painting the brake disc bells.

The car is going into a well-respected detailer in a couple of weeks for a complete machine polish and ceramic coating as well.

Yeah seemed to be some kind of issue with the tracking but actually arrived much quicker than I expected. 👍🏻

Latest Update

Since last posting...

Speed Limit Module
This is a small box that piggybacks into the Kombi using a supplied plug and play harness. It reads the speed limit info from the Nav Map data and displays the current speed limit in the HUD or the Instrument Cluster. Coding is required to make it work via E-Sys. Photo of it in action isnt great but you get the idea.

Red Start Button
Got one of these from AliExpress. It's a straight swap and is basically the same as the new M5.

Steering Wheel Retrim
Got my wheel trimmed by Jack at Royal Steering wheels. You can buy a new wheel or do a deposit and return. Basically £150 + £200 deposit. He sends you a wheel and then you fit all your switches and airbag etc to it and you send him your old one bag. He then refunds you deposit. Bargain for £150. His work is outstanding and he has a very good rep all over the net. I also paired it up with a Chinese copy of the M-Performance Carbon wheel trim.

New Rear Pads & Discs
Fitted at the dealer. Needs must. They price-matched the best price I got online.

Wireless Charging Plate Retro-fit
This is dead easy. It's a direct replacement for the unit that holds the various phone snap-in adapters that you can buy. Singular part number works in all F-series cars I believe.

More info here: http://www.6post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1457229

Michelin Pilot Sport 4S
Two of these to replace my very well worn PZero's on the rear. They're as good as the reviews. As gripped as the Pilot Supersports but better in the wet and apparently with better wear. They've transformed the car. No more wheelspin when pulling out hard from a junction. Best price I could find in the UK/EU was with www.camskill.co.uk at £230.00 each (next cheapest was £260). Couldnt justify a full set as the fronts still have a way to go before they need changed but they'll be getting the same.

M3NTAL Performance V-Style Splitter kit
The biggest issue with all the Vorsteiner copies flying around is that you've no idea how well they're going to fit. After a bit of dialogue and reassurance from Charly at M3NTAL I went ahead and ordered the whole kit. Fitted it myself and very happy. I'd say fitment is 99% perfect and if you're not experienced or confident then get a bodyshop to do it for you.

After fitting the splitters, I decided to order the spoiler which will arrive soon.

Looks great.

How did you swap the red button? I know you have to remove the trim but a little worried I would break a clip.

Any tips? Thanks

Just a case of taking the trim out and popping it out but to be honest you can probably free the button in-situ. It's only held in by two clips. so if you can wedge something slim in to each side it might be possible.

I saw that recently but no plans to alter performance. I struggle to find roads long enough as it is.

Car looks amazing..... Could you please forward me a link for the Carbon M Performance style exhaust tips. I've seen loads of listings but would rather go to where you ordered yours. Mines an alpine white gc so carbon tips should go a treat with carbon roof. Tnx

P.s did you need to polish the stainless steel portions or did they come pre polished?
