There Is a Special Place in Hell For People Who Key Cars

I grew up respecting cars, my dad drag raced, I rebuilt my first engine at the age of 18, and I have had the utter most respect for cars -- they are a hobby and a passion of mine.

I finally got my m6 the way I want it and it (wheels, mods, etc) and the paint was corrected and polished to perfection. This past Friday I took my staff out to lunch at a local burger joint, had some beers, laughed our asses off and just had a great time!

We come out of the restaurant to find that some jackass key my m6. I just don't really understand why someone would do such a thing. What the hell did they get out of it? Enjoyment? Jealousy? What the hell?

I only got one estimate so far but it looks like I am going to shell out around $1,100 to have it fixed.

I hope whoever did gets an uncontrollable everlasting case of the herp!

Not to go all spiritual on you, but Karma is real. They'll get what's coming to them one way or another. The unfortunate part is that you'll probably never know who or when it hits 'em. But it will equal itself out.

Get it fixed, put it past you. You'll forget about the whole thing in a couple months.

I can't say I'm surprised though. My passenger side door has had three dents pulled in my 8 months of ownership. I'm willing to bet the car that at least 1 was deliberate. Have had it happen with other cars as well, nicer than the M6 or otherwise, makes no difference to some people. The sad thing is that if this is a complete stranger who was unprovoked, he most likely did it out of envy, and that just shows how bad things have gotten in this world when people are more concerned with taking their frustrations out on others they consider to be better off, rather than concentrating on improving their current situation.

That totally sucks. I actually witnessed a friend's brother almost key a car once. Based on my familiarity wit this person and listening to his rationale, let me just tell you these people are not normal. They have one or two screws loose and they are seriously one step removed from stabbing someone in the future.

One time I had been keyed with me inside the car by an old guy who was so envious about life that I could not do anything else than reproach his behavior orally. Everyone has its piece of cake in life. Go ahead fix it and enjoy.

That is REALLY bad. I just don't understand it but..... it happens. Commiserations. Not a lot of consolation I know but that will be covered on your comprehensive insurance and it shouldn't affect your premium.

It is unreal. I just don't get it. I test drove a car yesterday, I asked them to appraise mine. When I got it back, they had put a dummy mark (curb rash) on my brand new HRE wheel.

I wanted to go in guns blazing... but I keep getting bad responses to standing up for myself on stuff like this... He should have admitted it, but didn't.

Keying is a completely different level, it was intentional. Wouldn't it be fun to catch someone in the act.. even if it were someone else's car........ So sorry, man.

Very sorry to hear and see this, Brian. It's a complete violation of your personal property and it's a terrible feeling. I too, believe what goes around comes around. I believe what he/she has coming to them will be much worse, even though we'll never know what that is. Like others have said - once fixed, the sting will be less painful as time goes on. In the end, you have a beautiful car with passion and loyalty for one of the best automotive brands in the world.
