Space Grey / Black 2015 GC
Dropped off some registration paperwork at my dealer yesterday, typically all the way to the dealer it was hot and sunny, the minute I arrived the heavens opened, so I only took a few shots for me to look at while I wait a month.
Really wasn't sure about SG when I ordered it, but now I've both seen mine, and one that passed me on the M4 in Wales, it looked great. Diffuser and Grey grills are ordered ready to be fitted for delivery. |

Appears so! They didn't want to put it in the showroom to avoid any potential damage

Interestingly the buttons still say M1/2 .. so maybe not? even tho it was built week 28.. what other visible changes are there? It has the new iDrive controller, but think that was already available prior to July?
Just sorted the insurance.. cheaper than my X3! Last edited by MattUK; 08-04-2014 at 08:02 AM.. |

Dealer has re-confirmed that it was actually built Week 28, so it *should* have the new updates.. maybe they had a surplus of buttons

I've asked the dealer to see if there is a HUD Demo mode now.. other than that, looking at what actually changed, there isn't much else..

The manual is still the old one as it talks about heated steering wheel light being on button .. So looks like the changes didn't get applied.. I've asked the dealer to find out from AG why not.

Where is the heated wheel light then? Having it on the button is near useless, if they have moved it I wonder if the new location can be retrofitted (without just bodging it).

Do you have a picture? Is the cluster light dedicated or just a 'soft' indicator in part of the black panel display?

Not to hand.. and its looking like my car doesn't have the changes anyway since they are minor and only mostly cosmetic I'm not sure its going to ruin the delivery for me, and waiting for another one would mean a few more months at least, then we hit winter and I lose what nice weather we may have left.

My dealership seems to think week 37 is when these changes take place. Matt PMed.

Week 36 would make most sense, but depending how you calculate week numbers that could be week 37! That's the first week in September when BMW traditionally make build spec changes.
Given that you've already in effect rejected a car built before the changes, that would possibly explain the current delay in building yours. |

Dealer just confirmed my car has the light on the dash now and had had engine and gearbox updates to improve emissions.
Not sure on the button deal then |

Further update, its now suggested that the button changes are actually on the powered seat and not on the wheel? And now when you press the memory buttons you get an audible beep to confirm, that apparently is also new.

So no dash light for the wheel heater?
The Auto Wiper light suffers the same problem, it's almost useless as you can't see it without looking round the back of the wheel, ideally while turning it so the spokes are not in the way! The Oscillating seat base light by comparison is easy to see, it's just dangerous to look down at, not suicidal! |
