2013 M6 Recall

FYI, just took my M6 to dealer for service, when I discovered there is a recall that was recently issued. Concerns turbo's melting some cooling lines. Have to install a heat shield in between. Says they will need car 2-3 days due to extensive work of removal of turbo's. Thought this was weird since I never received notice via mail. I confirmed with another dealer here in AZ though. Anyone else dealing with this?

Interesting... I just hit up my Service Rep at BMW to find out more about this because this is the first I have heard about it.

Interesting thanks for the info.

Side note. Does anyone with a 2013 have issues with the steering wheel rattling when driving on the freeway or at speeds anove 65. I feel like im wrestling with a bear when im driving at hog speeds cause the wheels vibrates so much.

^^ Have you checked to make sure your wheels/tires are properly balanced? Sounds like that might be the issue.

21" wheels

sounds good brian, let me know what you hear.

on another note, i am looking at strasse 21" wheels. i have the h&r lowering springs, so want to make sure they still tuck in! here is a rendering of the style i am looking at.

i noticed you have 21" wheels. any input would be greatly appreciated! how do you like the fit?

No it's not required to remove the turbos! all they need is to remove the plastic cover. I had my car done and this is the result:

The fitment on my 21" wheels is perfect. I run 265/30/21 on the front and 305/25/21 on the rear. H&Rs will make the tires tuck in the fenders because from what others say it puts the front a tad lower than the KW kit (which I have). I can just barely get my finger in between the fender and the tire so the tuck is perfect. It doesn't rub or anything which is the question I get asked often.

I am not sure if you need to do this with the H&Rs (maybe ask Twitch on here) but to get mine to sit down all the way I had to remove the white bump stop that is on the shock. When I left it in place the shocks were literally sitting on the bump stop, the ride quality was bouncy, and the car didn't lower down all the way. Once I removed the bump stop I was good to go. Also, I don't experience any bottoming out at all.

Post some pics once you get everything mounted up and installed.

I am also running Strasse wheels 21x9.5 and 21x12 rears with 325's and no rubbing what's so ever, perfect fitment and I am lowered on KW V3's. I am on my 3rd set with Strasse for my last 3 cars. Best customer service and very very good quality wheels. Here is the link from the photo shoot i did. Sorry for highjacking the tread.

Wow, looks awesome! Yea, their responsiveness has been second to none. Took me two weeks to get a response from hre. I wanted to do 12" width in the rear, but strasse said I would need some minor mods. Did you have to do anything special to get those to fit?

Nope , no mods at all...i have to stop by their shop one day, they want to see if my set up will fit an M6 that is lowered on H&R springs...don't forget I'm lowered on KW V3's, maybe they are different than the H&R or KW sleeves.

I had the recall performed this week. It was done in one day though.

They did all of the software updates and... I am not sure if it is the cold weather or the software updates, but my cars shifts much harder now.

I have performed the recall 3 weeks ago, also the software update:
- the first few hundred km/mile the car shifts strange, but now i am really happy - really smooth and fast
- best thing after SW update: B&O blue lighting - now it will light up really bright -

I went to the dealership today and they see the recall bulletin. I have scheduled that appointment in two weeks. However, they said there are no software updates for my car. What do I tell them regarding the software update?
