Run flats and spirited driving
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com One thing I've noticed quickly is the grip, or lack thereof of these run flats. I mean I do not get any sense of security going fast and turning no matter how shallow the corner. Not that the car is soft, it's hard but I don't have confidence in the tires just yet. For anyone in the NY, NJ and CT, you all know the Merritt Parkway, a pretty fun drive. I'm wondering if these tires are up for that road (two lanes for say 100 miles, curves, hills but fun, fun, fun)... Is it just me, the tires (only 2400 miles thus far), maybe not warm enough or am I expecting too much? For the record, I'm not racing or anything but I cruise safely anywhere between 80-100mph weather and roads permitting. Thoughts? Rippey |

you will be fine haha, do you have summer or all season tires? Used to go to school in Connecticut so have spent a lot of time driving up and down the merit, awesome road.

I got the tire/wheel protection but I may still swap them out. Potholes here are unreal....

JUST got home after ditching the factory Dunlops RFTs (after only about 12k miles) and replacing with Hankook V12 EVO2s. These are the new EVOs that just came out. Had to wait about 3-4 weeks.
WHAT A DIFFERENCE. I hate the RFTs more than ever. If I get another 6 series I'm changing out the RFTs at delivery. Gone is the pounding over tar strips and broken roads. Gone is the rock hard feeling of over inflated tires. It's too soon to comment on the EVO 2's performance as I need to drive a bit more for the mold release and mounting grease to dissipate. But all signals point to massive improvement and feel. I'll report back soon to the OP regarding the comparison to the RFTs. |

In others news my father just got his 2015 CB 650 MSport GC yesterday and already bent the 20 inch wheel on a pothole on 684. Thankfully he got the tire and wheel protection... -.-
