Exhaust Fix It Ticket

Hello guys, so long story short about a month ago I got pulled over for loud exhaust. I've received the white paper in the mail a few days ago and there was no option to just pay the fine but I have to fix it instead.

My current setup:
- Dinan Axle-back exhaust
- Catless DP
- Dinan S2 tune

I was expecting there will be an option to pay the fine and move on because it's gonna cost quite a lot of money and time to swap it back to stock.

Any suggestion of what's best to do? maybe anybody knows a cop friend? LOL.

Thanks.

Seems a bit unreasonable to make the layperson have to change our his automotive upgrades based upon noise. Obviously there are several questions that need to be answered:

1. have you been ticketed for loud exhaust before
2. when you were pulled over, what was the temperament of the officer
3. what was the location of the ticket being given (neighborhood? shopping complex? public/private property?)
4. (are you going to go race?...nah) -- given that you live in California, I'm not rehearsed on the statutes, but I say there is a colorable argument to be made that the time/energy/expense needed to reduce noise levels are not feasible;

As for suggestions -- I know CA has strict emission regulations -- evidence that your car is compliant, and make the argument that albeit you were driving as slow speeds, the perception to the law enforcer may seem as if I were a. speeding, and/or b. nuisance oriented behavior.

Hope that helps.

There is no way around it, you will have to go back to stock and then a rep. will have to inspect your car in order to sign the ticket. More than likely the cop that gave you the citation knows something about cars and probably figured you are running no cats so this was his way of making sure you would be in the future.

Ask around in your circle of friends. Somebody must know a local law enforcement officer. Buy him/her dinner and beers and get it signed off
