if the car wasn't totaled because of physical damage, flooding, etc. it means it was a manufacturer buy back because of a mechanical problem they couldn't fix in the statutory time allotted, or one that kept recurring despite repeated attempted fixes. It could be something as innocuous as not being able to get a part here from Germany in time, or it could be a major, major problem, that they have now fixed (maybe). As with all salvage title cars, there can be amazing bargains, or you could lose your shirt. If you plan on purchasing, you had better also plan on driving it into the ground as it has zero resale value. Oh, and no one will warrant it, so you are on the hook for all repairs and maintenance from day one.
