Farewell to the gorgeous M6 Gran Coupe
Morning all,
Been quiet for a while.. but life is returning to normal. I'm now into my 3rd year of my M6 Gran Coupe, and it remains the best looking BMW in my view. However.. the time has come for me to change.. and its a fairly big change, although I hope not one that I will be disappointed by. I've just ordered myself an M240i in Estoril blue loaded up with M Performance parts and exhaust system. Why the change you may ask.. Many reason but mostly its down to a change in my circumstances. Whereas I used to do a lot of driving I changed careers earlier this year and the car has been sat on the drive for most of the year, and I've probably only stuck 2000 miles on it this year, and for a car that is fairly heavily depreciating I had to review with my sensible head on if it was good value. Secondly, its a great car, really great, gets all the looks, is comfortable and blows my mind all the time, but it is highly impractical for day to day use as an only car. Many times have I got stuck in carparks where the car simply does not fit, getting in or out of those places with the stupid ramps has proved a challenge at times, plus parking in general I am fussy where I park and have to hunt around. I've had 3 tyres ruined by people sticking nails in them, and I live in the country so on the lanes can be a little tight at times, and I have found myself avoiding using the car because I'm afraid of what might happen, which for this car is wrong.. and while it is fun, a lot of fun, its not as chuckable around the country lanes as I am used to from my M3 days... So I looked at the M2 and the M240, and pound for pound, and the differences between the two and what i need to use it for, made the 240 a no brainer.. so as I enjoy my last few weeks of it, I wish everyone the best, and I will await the new 6 shape in the next year or so. Thanks for all the support info and guidance everyone has provided, really appreciated. I shall now have to move out of the real M forums across to the pretend M area Cheers! and drive safe |

I had a 235i coupe but I missed my M3 convertible so I went back. I then moved up to an M6 convertible. Love the car, but I agree it is almost too big. I have already nicked the front end twice. I was hoping to do ED on an M2 convertible, but so far no convertible from BMW. I hear the 230 is better all around than the 240, except in a straight line, hard to say, both nice cars. Only issue I still have is the cheap leather and the narrow gauge cluster. Enjoy the 240i

Still got a year of interest free finance to run on mine, then I'll need to decide what to do. Currently just shy of 40,000 miles, it will be over 50,000 when the finance ends. Circumstances may change, but I'll probably keep it for a while yet so long as it's trouble free.
