Well you just corrected yourself there, either way 3.9 or 4.1 for the M4 means it's slower than the M6 Gran Coupe which is listed at 3.6, the coupe probably around 3.4. The CLS63 is at 3.2. You are talking about cars in a different bracket. Aside from that BMW doesn't care about 0-60 as much as they are geared for the top end, put an M4 next to an M6 from 60-130 and where do you think the M4 will place? About $40k worth of distance behind the M6. And yes, M division would tell you, if it costs more than it's faster, because that's what they do, they build fast cars last time I checked.

Son, if you can find BMW posting a 3.6 for any of their M cars, feel free to post the link. I've posted the links from the bmwusa website and they show 4.1 for both the M6 and M6GC and 4.2 for the M5. The price does not matter - marketing does not work that way any more.

PS - the Son thing was supposed to be from Top Gun, I just couldn't make it work

PPS - My point is that BMW themselves are saying the M4/M3 is faster than the M5/M6. But like I said, I think only the three of us give a crap

I see what you're sayin, but in the real world the numbers BMW has listed are not adding up. They have 0-60 @ 4.1 on the M6 gran coupe, and the coupe, they don't say auto or manual, also 4.1 the M3, the M4, and then 3.9 on the automatic M3/4.. Maybe they all do 4.1 until they hit 1200 miles and get the service done? I mean you would think coupes and sedans would pull different times, no? Either way, no one can say that a stock M4 is faster than a stock M6, at least 2 out of the 3 of us know this, so we don't care either

The easiest thing you could do to solve this is just call a dealer or BMW NA and get a tech on the phone and just ask which one is faster, please report back, I think I know what they are going to tell you.

Back to the point...

As others have said, really 2 different cars. The 6 is big, bad ass luxurious power, the 4 is small, raucous hooliganism. Both perfect, depending on your desires. Neither has a stick, though, so a moot point as far as I'm concerned.

The 6 is sweet in Space Grey, though, But I may be biased.
