Pure Turbo stg2 upgrade 640i

Hi,

Just asking has anyone here done a turbo upgrade to their n55 engine, and how much power you've taken out and has anything major broke?
Seriously thinking about turbo upgrade to reach 500ish horsepower with Pure Turbo stg 2, atm just making a list of the costs of everything.
Now the car is just tuned and its def not enough.

I know theres more threads on the internet but im just asking to see if i can get some more answers, right now it looks n55 is quite reliable engine.

you may have better luck on the 5 series or 3/4 series message boards for advice and experience on tuning the N55 engine. Since the N55 is the base engine in the 6 series it isn't often the enthusiasts choice, so you aren't going to find too many people modding it here.

Right now Vrsf Catless downpipe.
But yeah, the tune was done by the last owner, and 360 is what it says on ACS webpage.

500whp is gonna be a tough one on PWG N55. This is not true for the 2,3 and 4 series with upgraded turbos. Also not true for EWG DME's. There's missing maps on the earlier PWG DME which have addressed by Mission Performance. Then there's the hardware, MAF, tamp bar sensor and the turbo itself. MissionPerformance can chime in here and give the nitty gritty or just contact them directly and talk to Alex for the low down.

Yeah,
If Tmap gives trouble will have to change that to the N20 one. But letsee for now. Also have to make new inlet pipe, 6/7 have different from the rest.

Soon i start having my own problems (i hope not) when my ps2 arrives.
I'll be sure to update how it goes. For starters i hope we get it running decent with jb4 and stock fuel system. Winter is coming here in Finland anyway so no need for any further upgrades now.

Just updating,
Still waiting for few parts to arrive, PS2 is allready sitting in garage.
Will do a dyno soon without anything but the ACS tune, ofcourse to see where i started and where it will end.

Seems to be quite a few ppl who have done a turbo upgrade to their Fxx 535i but none of them have dynoed the car before OR after. That is something really odd.

Is odd indeed. Currently my MPS1 is being installed same motor as yours so we can compare. Mine will be back in a few weeks with a refreshed engine and new a turbs. Let's go team N55!

I'm getting an EWG conversion with custom tune. Stage 3 is whole new ball park. Might want forged internals at that point, either way someone needs to put out a stage 1 dyno from pure on our DME's. I know N55's on F30's and are good for about 400whp now let's see what happens on ours.

They're doing just fine, STG3 is just better over head and don't need to push the turbo out of their efficiency. So far BigBoost STG3 kit comes in STG3.1, 3.2, 3.3 and their newest 3.4 all for different power levels.
They even have Dynos on different Fuels and they're finishing some cars / tuning but yes all EWG it seems.
The only PWG car is the 135 they have also dynod 470-480whp on stock fueling with 93-E85 blend i think or racegas.
