anyone hardwire their V1?

i would attach unit just to right (passenger side) or rear view mirror, then run power line down A pillar to get juice from fuse tap (fuse panel in glove box). so far so good.

but i like to have the head unit black for stealth and have in the past used the V1 remote display (and additional remote mute button). these look a LOT more challenging to locate. i mean going from the fuse box to the cup holder area is one though, but damn the trim looks hard to work with.

also thought about running down the other a pillar, then placing head unit on top of steering column. still looks daunting.

getting to that fuse box is no joke either. its recessed deep in glove box. there is a trim panel along bottom of the glove box, which presumably allows access, but it clearly says "airbag," so no way im sticking my head under there to remove said trim. i know you can disconnect battery and then do so with impunity, but again, im not THAT interested in doing it at this point.

i'll wait for someone else to conquer, or bring to an auto audio specialist, preferably someone who's done lots of BMW work.

or wait for someone here to do a DIY write-up

I followed the link above, mostly. I managed to completly hide the wire at the top of the A pillar and I mounted the remote to the left of the wheel, down low, but in plain sight from driving position. I'll upload pictures as soon as I have the chance.

To route the wire from the V1 connector to the remote, I followed the instructions per the above link, but took it further, past the steering column to the trim panel on the left.
